In order to get the maximum tire diameter for a stock 2017 Tacoma I went straight to Toyota for the answer. Here's the dialog:
    • Me:
      • What is the maximum tire diameter for the 2017 Toyota Tacoma?
        Thank you.
    • Toyota:
      • ...
Since the 2017 Toyota Tacoma offers three different tire sizes, if you could provide us with your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), we would be glad to review your request.
        ...
    • Me:
      • VIN: ...
I'd like to know what the maximum tire diameter is, to include the maximum diameter that the spare tire well will accommodate.
        Thank you.
    • Toyota:
      • ...
Thank you for that quick reply with the VIN.
A search of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) ... shows this 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road came equipped with P265/70R16 tires. We do not recommend using any other size of tire as a tire of a different size or type may adversely affect handling, wheel and bearing life, brake cooling, speedometer/odometer calibration, stopping ability, headlight aim, bumper height, vehicle ground clearance, and tire or snow chain clearance to the body and chassis.

Toyota vehicles meet all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards when they are originally distributed, and a modification could affect the safety and/or operation of the vehicle and remove it from compliance with specifications and standards mandated by the Federal Government. Also, we have not tested the type of tire modification you have described, and therefore we are not in a position to endorse it.
        ...
Not the answer I was expecting...

Ask them what speed they recommend driving while in a 65 MPH zone next.

Their lawyer robots will have a similar low risk response.

Biggest tire size is 265/75/16 or 265/70/17.

I was wondering since 2nd gen biggest tire size is 265/75r16, does that mean since the 3rd Gen sits roughly 1" higher in the front that we could run 1" taller from that. I also have the bilstein level up one notch giving roughly another inch. I would like to run some skinny 33" (or just shy of) and hoping I don't rub
