Could I roughly copy his link length and placement?

    Upper Link 24 inches long
    Lower Links 34 inches long
    Upper/Lower Length Ratio 70.5%

    10" of separation

Sure. That would work. I would just put the lowers in the center of the axle tube instaed of towards the top like he has it.

With the width of a 60 would that change things much? Moving them out more on the axle end I mean. I know I need to research more and more and more.

I start looking at this 3 link calculator and my head starts smoking.

I hate that three link calculator. It makes people do things they shouldn't.

Use it as a tool. Not the end all to be all. There will be compromises in anything you do, however, you can build a very nice truck by using that fj80 as a guide line. I think his top link location on the axle is a bit too high but it worked for him.

Just keep in mind that when you build it you'll want some triangulation of the bottom links and you'll want that top link at least three inches off of the top of the axle.

Email me or come over to RST where i hang and I can help you with your figures.

Okay when I have the engine in and axles I'll drop by, for now I'm just trying to get some idea of what's going on in my head with geometry so I'm not so confused when it comes time to put the axles under it. That and get an idea of where I'm going with this thing. Thanks Wyatt! I'm hoping that's 6 months or so from now.

    ...too much shit to list.
Maybe I'm overthinking it...but I just don't see the reason for the cummins?
Why not just throw in the 1HZ? Yes it doesn't have as much balls, but its a great motor and it's not like that's a difficult swap to do by comparison to the cummins.

I don't think the Cummins will be all that hard honestly. A bit of fabbing up mounts, and some linkages and lines, but it's a simple engine and these 92s are simple vehicles. Pre OBDII, everything is pretty simple. The interior has all the fancy shit but the engine and drivetrain, aside from the center diff lock is pretty simple. Should make it much easier to swap the 5.9 in. The 12 valves are great motors, super simple, and make a shit ton of torque and way more power than a Toyota diesel.

Really it just makes my dick hard and if I'm making a play toy, why the fuck not?!

    Plus I hate hippies.

I meant drop by RST the forum. I check that more often than I do this one. I don't get notices here, only because I get so many from RST, so I only answer this one in the early am or late pm.

I can help you figure out and better understand the three link geometry without having to use that silly three link calculator. It's a great tool but too many people live by that thing and never get anything done and continue to second guess themselves.

It really is simple to set these things up now that so many have done it.

Oh..... Now I see. Your doing all this to an FJ80... Duh. Heck, that'll be simple. Just do what Jackson did. Your done. And the Cummins will be killer in there too. Saaaaweeeet!!!:p

I'm torn between my wifes 2004 4Runner, a third gen 4Runner or the FJ80 or it's Lexus version. I want something that I can keep most everything enclosed and still drive on the streets every day.

But first I need to build my '56 Ford f100. But it shouldn't take too long. It just needs a little buffing here and there and it should be good as new. :p

The clearance on that jeep is insane.

That old ford is sexy too. I'd love to have something like that. My neighbor back in Maui had an old Chevelle and truck like that. Very well maintained.

Hah, yeah I've noticed that, figured they screwed up in the editing somewhere. :p

Well within the 80 series you have 91-92 FJ80 3FE 4.0 I6 with A440F -- stupid simple, then you've got 93-97 FZJ80 with option of lockers and the 1FZ-FE 4.5 I6 with A442F, then you've got the LX450 hah. I decided the 91/92 was a better year to mess with due to the simplicity of it. Pre OBD2, engine and trans have very few electronic controls, just EFI and some smog stuff.

Your Ford looks like a fun project too!

    Hell yeah it is!
