I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure the load rating doesn't actually apply to the sidewalls. Some manufacturer's have thicker sidewalls than others. I read that Toyo's and Nitto's have 3 ply sidewalls, and recently found out that BFG also has a 3 ply sidewall, but I believe others only roll with 2. Firestone may be one of them? :notsure:

I have Load range D Treadwright's on BFG carcass's and they have 3 ply's on the sidewall but the standard 8 on the tread.

Side note: Not sure if I've actually told you or if I just subscribed and never said anything but I love your truck man! It's been the inspiration for a few of the mods I've done to mine.

10 ply and such doesn't even apply to radial tires, just bias ply. Radial tires typically run 2 or 3 plys and they are rated as "10 ply equivalent" and such.

Found another cut about an inch long down to the belts but not through. Bummer. I guess they have soft sidewalls...

Load range E, i know theres not 10 plys but thats there rating. The mine trucks run the hell out of em so i figured they were good enough but i guess not the sidewalls.

Fwiw I've run tons of miles through similar terrain on procomp mts (wore em out) duratracs (traded up to 35s after 8k) and bfg ats (traded down to 33 treadwrights which then sold for these) and i killed a bfg at sidewall with a rock aired down and peeled the tread off down to the belts on a bfg at. But putting a thorn through one firestone and now cutting this one twice (all within a month) makes me doubt these guys. Just stating for the record

Not really where I was planning on starting but it just happened to work out super well.

Off to the forming shop and I'll weld her up as soon as she's back!

Cut out for a 20" light bar. I think 8 bolts per side. 3/4" shackle mounts. Can't wait!

As for the Taco, I ordered an Ebay catch can, what a piece of shit, jb welded in a baffle and some screen, all the fittings leak, I can't get the main fittings to stop leaking (putting about 5 psi in em) no matter how much tape and RTV I add, seems like I'm going to have to JB weld the fuckers in there. The stupid sight tube leaks like a mother fucker, gonna need more hose for it I guess or just plug the ports.

Oh well... It'll be sweet once it's done.

Not entirely. Eric cut me the plates. Kolt and Jake helped me weld some of the trickier bits. Eric helped me notch the tube. I bent the tube, welded all the outside, sanded it all.

Painted it today, tomorrow is install then the poor cruiser goes back to it's resting a place till I figure out what I'm doing with myself.

I know you probably get this question a lot, but how is it riding on 35s vs 33s? I have the OME lift and right now I'm running 265/70/17 but once they wear out I am thinking of getting some 35's. Thoughts?

IDK if riding is the main factor in the decision to jump to 35s. Probably more the clearancing needed. Of course 35s are heavy and large and will kill power and mileage.

    They rode just fine though.
