The other week I used x bull, maxsa Amazon ones, and maxtrax. Cracked the xbull right down the middle. The maxsa had supports on the bottom cracked. My maxtrax were unscathed. If you can't justify the price then don't buy it, but you get what you pay for and these are the best.

I have 2 sets of the Amazon traction boards...... they are great and have saved me many times in snow. 10/10 worth $50-60.

However, they arent used for bridging. Also, if you break a set then just but another because you can buy 6 sets for the price of 1 maxtrax.

It’s a piece of plastic. Other videos show it do the same thing. They’re all fine. Btw: people can spend $50k on a truck because their smart with the money elsewhere.

Yeah. That guy was messing with those x-bulls and they were fine. If I did hardcore roading, I’d consider maxtrax. But I’m in SoCal and stick with easier trails. Don’t need anything that extreme to get myself out of things.

You asked the question but it seems like you just wanted justification since your mind was already made up. Saying "it's a piece of plastic" is like saying "it's just a round piece of rubber" when comparing cheap, shitty, walmart tires to some high performance tires with proprietary rubber compound. No one is forcing you to buy these if you don't want to.

    This is good info!

Maxtrax are definitely the best. However, most people just buy them to have the most expensive stuff. As long as you have the right expectations for the gear you buy then that is what is important. Like I said, I have the cheap Amazon boards and they work great for mud, snow, sand but i dont expect them to bridge or last forever. Most people will never use traction boards but let me tell you, when you are in a situation by yourself in the woods.. you will pay any price to get unstuck. Traction boards are a cheap insurance policy and have saved me many times.

People just need to do their research and ask themselves what they will be using them for then make a informed decision. The cheapies work well for me and what i use them for. However, if they started breaking and cracking during my applications then i would think about upgrading to the maxtrax.

Overall my advice is, if you are in a situation where money is tight and you dont have a winch then spend the money on a winch and buy cheap traction boards. If you have a winch and the cash then buy the maxtrax. If you are a cheap bastard like me then buy the cheapies and see how long they hold up. If they break immediately then buy Maxtrax and youll only be out $50 but if they save your ass even once then they are worth $50 imo.

Its a pretty informative video for sure. I'd agree with you, unless this group buy comes to fruition with a solid discount.

Not the same. I use my tires every time I drive. Tires play into MPG, ride quality, and safety. For my use, I’d probably use these boards a few times, max. So, for my purpose, eBay or Amazon is fine. If I would use them more, then I’d pay for something better.

Exactly what I was thinking. If I can score a deal on maxtrax, then for sure.

    It is all about expectations...

"For my use, I’d probably use these boards a few times, max. So, for my purpose, eBay or Amazon is fine. If I would use them more, then I’d pay for something better"

This is most people and for these situations the cheapies would be fine

For anyone reading, if you spin tires on any traction boards then you will burn off the teeth.. just an FYI. Its better to dig more and put them into the proper position then to spin and ruin the boards.

Then buy the cheap boards. I'm not really sure why you posted in the thread, unless you were bored and felt like arguing.

My question is.... has anyone used the Maxtrax Xtreme boards with the replaceable teeth? I mean like really use them... not buy and mount on your overland bed rack and never touch.

Definitely did want to stir the pot. But also unintended benefit, getting this thread some traction (pun intended) and maybe get it somewhere (more pun intended).

    Yes.
If this turns into a group buy instead of a bunch of bickering I’d be in for 2 sets. I run the x bulls right now but I like the slimmer stackableness of the maxtracs
