And the pics are in! Love the look... Can't comment on functionality yet, but I'm sure they will be a useful addition to my recovery gear ensemble.

Perfect. I was wondering if they would fit that way. Thank you!

No problem, they actually squeeze in there about as perfect as you can get.

I love my maxtrax still! Considering I don't have a winch these are my go to recovery device. Soon as I feel like I might be the slightest stuck I pull out the maxtrax and a shovel and get out with little problems. I saw a video that said those treds break pretty easily. The nice thing is they have an unbeatable warranty...but that won't help you when you are stuck in the middle of no where with a snapped in half TRED .

My maxtrax have lost nubs and my friend gave to much wheel spin and melted some of them off. Otherwise I am happy with them. Ill be getting a second pair some day when money grows on trees.

Since this Group Buy is long closed, any suggestions on where to buy Maxtrax?

Even though the GB is over you can probably still purchase them from Kurt @ cruiseroutfitters. Give them a call and find out.

I had forgotten about Kurt and I picked up a set from here, the United States Maxtrax dealer. Fast delivery and they even called to verify that all my parts ordered were ready to ship.

I tried them out in deep sand a few days ago and they worked as I had hoped. I even placed them over a shallow ditch (about 24" across and 18" deep) and drove over them to make sure they would support the truck with my camping and fishing gear loaded up and they did fine.

Not cheap but I think they're worth it if you are the trail alone (like I do a lot) and don't have a winch set-up.

    ...too much shit to list.
Frankly speaking, I don't think there's any traction pads on the market that are even close in comparison. I love mine.
I will say that the tan ones are slightly difficult to find when you bury them in the sand. Highly recommend keeping the Orange leash attached :anonymous:

Sorry for the off-topic question but the guys in this thread would be the guys to ask and I didn't think it warranted a new thread.

I'm curious about the possibility of bolstering these (or TREDs) with some wood support to turn them into more rigid ladders.

I bought a pair of TREDs mostly just for use in deep snow and was wondering how much they could be improved by bolting on underneath *for example* a piece of 3/4" plywood (same shape as TRED) using the existing holes. Granted, they would be heavier and wouldn't stack nicely, but if I'm going out on trails where I will be more worried about clearance through bumps and dips, than I would be about getting stuck in mud, how effective could a modified tread ramp be? Thoughts??

I guess you could get the same benefit from carrying around a couple lengths of 2x10's but with this you would have some traction and a little flex.
