    Has anyone else had this happen? I was threading my last (4th) MAXTRAX bolt in to my prinsu load panel and the nut just stopped half way and wouldn't tighten or loosen. Now I can't tighten it to use it or loosen it to take it off. And even if I get it off, I need an additional bolt. I'm pretty furious right now. The only thing I can think of at this point is to sawsall it off (while probably scratching the shit out of the load panel) and wait for a new set...

    How thick is the load panel?

    Did you run out of threads?;

    You can't get the bolt to back off? even with a crescent wrench on the top?

    I'm a machine mechanic with a full garage.
    It completely seized with barely enough room for me to grind the nut off without completely fucking up the load panel.

    I've had a similar thing happen with a locking nut like that before on a roof rack mount. It snapped pretty easily. Is it possible to melt the nylon out of the nut and get it loose if this happens again?

    Happened to me on 2 of 4 that I bought. Ended up getting 4 more to make a full set. This is a fairly common issue with these. Stainless steel hardware apparently being the cause.

    Stainless threads on a regular nut? Probably galling. Have u tried anti-seeze on the threads before the nut goes on? Might help.

    Yes, I had one that galled up suddenly while tightening it during a test fit, and one did the same thing when I went to remove one. I contacted the vendor I purchased it from and the sent me a new replacement set. The sales person told me they had a "bad batch".

    Well, I had about 2 threads that reached the nut after I cut the old one off. Ran to HD and bought a nut and it's barely hanging on there. Hopefully they'll send me one new bolt and not make me buy 4 more.
