Could anyone with these tires post photos of up-close detail of the sidewall, specifically showing the fine print including place of origin and such? These recently moved into first place on my list of replacements.

Where are people finding the weights per tire listed? Checked a handful of sites now and don't see a weight for the LT285/70R17 in E rating.

On the Maxxis website. The LT version is one of the heaviest out there.

I doubt you actually need LT/E. I mean, maybe you do, but unless you have a TacomaBeast level build and you never actually drive on pavement, maybe. But SL still exceeds the limits of the truck.

I’m on the struggle bus then because I couldn’t see the weights. I’ll check today again. I’m in a 2015 Lexus GX so more weight than the Taco. I agree I don’t need the E rated but a good deal is available so trying to see if it’s worth the opportunity.

Second to last column is weight (also, GX's are cool AF, IMHO)

Just finished another trip - almost 3k miles. Handled great in the rain (night & day from the stock OR tires). I have them set to 31psi and they got up to 37psi when rolling though 117 degree desert @80mph.

When cruising on the highway @~65mph I’m getting excellent mileage (see 10/11th) and the last (16.9mpg) was ~80mph + mountains trying to get home in super hot desert. Really impressed overall with these tires. Really exceeded my expectations

So, thats crazy! My rolling average right now with these tires is 21.X - and I drive up and down an I-80/Parleys Canyon back and forth to Park City most of the time.

Those super high ones were just on cruise control and following our friend in a horse trailer - but still, I’m quite happy/surprised. I do drive like a granny, for the record.

I don't drive slow, but I take it easy accelerating and decelerating (most of the time). If I'm chatting while driving down the canyon, I can get it into the 30s.

Really appreciate the help. Still embarrassed I couldn’t pull that together on my own. 59 pounds a corner isn’t light but I’m saving a ton of money which would offset the MPG loss :anonymous:

I am loving the GX. I came out of an older 3rd generation 4Runner and looked for newer 4Runners as well as Tacoma’s but the pricing was insane for used and I got into a CPO GX for the perfect deal.

With a MT I think you’re (unfortunately) going to get worse highway mpg due to the higher gearing in the rear. Not sure how big of a difference but I’d think quite noticeable.

I’d still take the stick if I didn’t have other factors for my situation though :)

That hasn't been my experience. I'm always on the freeway and I'm consistently over 20.

But, caveat: I only run E0. This truck hasn't tasted ethanol yet.

I must be accelerating aggressively too often, or maybe carrying more added weight. Even with tires at top end of psi range, I’m getting at best 17/18 average. What app is that for tracking trip mpg?

After a quick google, auto 4x4 V6 is rated at 20 combined, same vehicle with manual is 18. So you’re doing well then :)

App is Fuelly (free version). Keep in mind that’s virtually all highway miles, so higher than stop & go. Overall in SD I average 18.7, but it’s impossible to get anywhere without getting on a highway. My truck does terrible over 65mph… anything under than and my mileage is great. I didn’t have a lot of added weight but probably a couple hundred pounds of gear & dog.

See attached for overall mpg since I got the truck, and I got the Maxxis tires May 1st. Big spikes were another road trip (Yosemite/Mammoth/other mountains).

Right?!? I was not expecting that kind of mileage, but I've read the way they do those EPA tests, they have little real-world relevance.
