The measurements I provided are with inflation based on chalk tests. So perhaps not exactly what joe blow has on his rig or even the manufactures spec, but correct for my application.

Your statement as a whole has some merit.

I just wanted to clarify what would constitute an apples-to-apples comparison and how the advertised diameter is actually measured.

I'm not saying you're underinflated, but if you were, it would have less effect on the diameter if properly measured(in the air).

Did you measure in the air or on the ground?

Manufacturers measure tires at max psi on a certain wheel width not mounted on a vehicle..real world specs are going to be way different

Whats the actual thread depth on the sl rated 285 70 17? There's mixed information on this.

Either way the 285 70 17 sl are my next tire.

Can’t comment on what mine were new as I didn’t measure. Currently I’m at 10-11/32nd on all 4 tires. This is with around 12k-ish miles, mostly pavement and a few hundred gravel/FS roads.

I saw that, thanks for the heads up man! Fingers crossed. Were yours sold directly by Walmart or was it a third party vendor through Walmart?

That gives me some hope, my order was directly sold by Walmart.

I've had mine for over a year. They are fantastic! I've been through KO2, Goodyear Duratracs and Cooper AT4's. The Maxxis check all of the boxes man.

Crappy phone pic, I'll give her a bath and take better ones with my Nikon this weekend. But, Discount was able to squeeze me in today to get them mounted. Love these things so far driving around town; better ride while still looking significantly more aggressive than my E-rated 275 Nokians I had. Glad I stepped up to 285s, too... they really match my lift well.

I think the thing that is impressing me the most about these tires has been that A) they have not started cupping at all and B) they are still as quiet as the day there were new, which is by far the quietest AT I have run.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
Your truck looks great with the 285s, my daughter’s boyfriend in Australia runs the Maxxis, quite popular over there
Just looked on Maxxis website, they say the 285 in 117 load range only weighs 42lbs.

Thanks! Yeah they’re super light and ride better than my E-rated 275s. Acceleration from a stop is better, too.
