What does "the twins" mean? Is it a reference to chevy and GM? I've been waiting awhile to ask this...o_O

$35k! at least the resale value is still there. I paid $34k for mine same color and options.
Someone will buy it. One mans trash is another mans treasure.

List price on a used dealer lot has practically zero to do with resale.

Of course the dealer offered $5k less than the list price for a trade in. They offer wholesale auction price which is about $30k for a trade in.

Anyone who trades in a year old truck doesn't care about taking a loss.

You always get railroaded when you trade a vehicle in at the dealership. That is a given. Dealerships are in business to make a profit.

    Agree with your points though.

I wonder what Nissan's profit margin is on the Frontier.

I'd love to know the bottom line cost of making any car...

I'll be willing to bet the profit margin isn't as much as we'd think. Especially when you factor in overhead, etc.

Insane. They been recouped the R&D cost on the current generation frontier years ago.

Nissan is laughing all the way to the bank for every frontier they sell and could care less that the Tacoma and gm twins are outselling the frontier.

Initially, profit margins are small on a new generation release because they spent so much money on research and development, paying the engineers that spent years on the project, etc.

Auto manufacturers don't see reasonable profit on a new generation vehicle until about 3-4 years later.

3rd Gen. YTD sales are still down this year compared to 2016 sales through May.

Everybody's sales are down from last year. It made news that Ford outsold GM for May...I guess that doesn't happen often?

EDIT: I got my info from CNBC financial channel. They noted that the used car market has decreased sales as well.

Yep I know all about taking hits I'm on my third taco in less than 5 months the first one was a 2014 Baja TX drove it a couple of months really nice off road truck but very stiff on the road could feel every bump not really a good daily driver then I traded in for a new 2017 off road after driving the Baja a couple of months getting in the off road was the different between night and day, I said hell yeah i want this really nice I loved it , then I started thinking about as long as I'm going to have this am I really going to be taking this truck to do some serious off-roading I do some but not a lot I mainly use 4WD at the boat ramps and snow mostly light off road use so I drove it for 2 months and 2 payments and traded it in for a month newer 2017 TRD sport 4x4 and I really love this one too and love the look it rides to me even better just got this one Tuesday they say the third times the charm I think I'm keeping this one for awhile not to mention the cost of 3 dealer trucks in less than 5 months.

Ballin'. Do you have a date in mind for trading this one in for the Pro? Because it is basically everything good in the OR, with the best parts on the Sport IMO.

I see your off road in the profile pic. Is your new TRD sport also BBP?

I initially wanted that color but the dealers in my area did not have any in stock. They offered to trade with another dealer 100 miles away but only wanted to knock $750 off the sticker price. I bought the MGM TRD off road on the lot for $2800 off sticker instead.

Blizzard Blue pearl trucks are popular in my area so I'm actually glad I have MGM because I stand out from the pack.

At least you have a truck your finally happy with for a while.

Maybe 2018 for the pro but so far I'm really loving this one I bought the blazing blue pearl OR that's in the picture and the dealer I went to all they had was OR in 4WD so I called my dealer and told the salesman I might trade my new OR For a Sport if you have one he said come see us and we will talk I said alright went down there and we started looking for the TRD sport 4x4 all he had on the lot was a couple or 2WD sports I said it's got to be 4WD he said hang on let me look for one at another dealer I said ok he came back a little later and said man you must be living right I found you another blazing blue pearl that's a Sport 4WD I said cool they paid off what I owed on the OR and did end up costing me 2 more thousand but that's nothing compared to the total cost and I feel good about it.
