i say keep away from all this sketchy shit. i would have all the money, let the cops know the whole thing is going down and just make sure you get a plate number before you part ways. none of this scene of the crime, jump behind a dumpster and hide from the gun shots when the cops roll up stuff. . . . do the deal, get the plate number, leave! you can try the video camera stuff, and i would not do it alone, but use your head. good luck, keep us posted.

hey, im not saying i bring guns, but ive never bought anything from somebody off craigslist without a friend and a weapon handy at one time. . . . .

side rant/funny story - my freshman year of college i bought a tv off craigslist, the guy on the phone sounded like a very well spoken upstanding individual, i go to the apartment and bob marley comes out and says "come on to the basement" hahaha! i knew i was about to die, walk in and there's tv's everywhere lol. i was like "great im about to buy stolen goods". . . . the more i talked to him it turns out he buys and fixes them for a living. . . super smart dude. hell the tv broke 6 months later, i called him, he fixed it for free. i love the dude now, he's my electronic consultant haha.

but im just being an idiot now, not trying to jack your thread OP. good luck, use your head, keep us posted.

This, but your doing audio, so thats good too.

    Yes.

Do not recommended blocking. As someone stated earlier, rather follow safely and be quick to call and give all info possible. If you have a number for the dispatch, skip that call 911 with the info.

drjohnson36-you wouldn't be in Southern California, would you? Either way, video or pics sound like good idea. I would wait to verify the item is yours then pull out the camera instead of money. Otherwise you might spook him. Good luck, keep us posted. Thieves suck. Especially Taco thieves:mad:

Right before you go to meet with him to check the item I would have your friend call the police saying that you left a long time ago and he is worried about how the deal went down. I would have him say something like this (hello, 911, my friend was going to check whether an item he found on craigslist was his stolen property without police because that’s what the police investigator said he had to do and he said he would call me at 6 if everything was ok and it is now 6:30 I am worried the investigator got him hurt can you go check) that should get the police headed that way. And then go to the deal. If it is not your item and the cop show up just tell them u stoped somewere and forgot to call your friend

You're already in contact with the local authorities, right?

I would just do whatever they ask you to do and not embellish with any extra-curricular activities suggested by strangers on a forum. "But the internet told me to" is not a good excuse if you screw-up whatever the local PD wants you to do.
