Turkey baster, that hand pump got brought out on accident. And that pan of steering fluid has a quart of fresh mixed in making it look cleaner than what was originally in the rack and pump.
It was bad. I replaced my rack years and years ago , and that was the last time I have even opened the steering fluid cap.
Been negligent on that specific thing, steering fluid, but that’s gonna change.

A friend was telling me I could send this amp to jl audio to be refurbished , lol. Already ordered a new refurbished for under 200$ so it wasn’t a huge deal. I wonder if they are good enough to bring that board back from the dead..cuz it’s shot.

Not having a garage has destroyed the paint on my 03 DC. Hood and Roof are horribly faded out. Saving up for a paint job is going to be a big PITA.

same. I’ve buffed the roof down to metal and shot it with rattle can once already, and it didn’t last long. rusting again

I did it in a hotel parking lot lol, candle wood suites in …somewhere Pennsylvania. Did the head unit and 4 mid level speakers there too. Willow grove Pennsylvania , that’s it . It’s coming back to me now.

You don’t even want to know how much the body shop that my local Toyota dealer uses quoted me for new paint.

You don’t want it breaking on you when you are using it, I was going to suggest put it on a foiled cookie sheet in your preheated oven at 350 for no more than five minutes, air out the house…. It has been done on faulty hp printer boards before. But yea, looks cooked

Does it shift into gear, if it was towed it could trigger the security locking mechanism, and possibly the alarm if you have one?

I’ve thought of that and been suggested that more than once , just worried that it’ll rust underneath the wrap and I won’t notice it. I would really dig a 80’s era wrap though

yeah I’ve been driving it for about 5 days now. The tow was a car trailer with a winch, and beat up tundra pulling it haha . It’s back road worthy at this point, but with other issues I’m addressing. Just got back from the store actually.
    Drives quite good right now!

I had my roof resprayed, which was money well spent. I didn't want to pay to have the whole truck done at the time. Hood is trashed as well, so I'm deciding on my next move. But my 2 cents is that having the roof sprayed and blended is worth it if you're okay with the cost. (Think mine was about 800 and change in 2018, still perfect and its been in the brutal Virginia coast sun since, no garage.)

i would love to just shoot roof and hood but that crazy 8k quote place wouldn’t do a section of the truck. Stuck ups
Top on my list when it’s back to basom, I’d find a shop or person who can do what you had done. It would look so much better. But there are benefits to driving a truck that has some petina, nobody thinks you got much to get at on the interior. I’ve always referred to it as my log hauler and will continue to do so even if I get it looking nice on the outside.

I'm cool with patina until it turns brown haha.
Try and shop around and see what ya find, definitely worth a drive out of the area if you have to.

FWIW My quote for the whole truck, at a reputable custom indie shop who handle all sorts of higher end cars, was $12K. That's stripped down, bed removed, etc. (Interior of bed wasn't included in that because I told them I'd have it line-x'd)

I tried to get a maco paint shoot lined up when I was in New Jersey working, but couldn’t make it work. They will do a below average whole shoot for 2-4k mainly just want it protected from further rusting. I am not fancy , I have more important things to fuss over

    Not that 8k
Wasn’t reasonable it was. But when you weigh that price against what I originally paid for the truck, it just didn’t make sense. Over half the cost of the truck itself. And I know good paint work isn’t easy or cheap. I’m still calculating with pre Covid prices…

Oh for sure. Its crazy to pay a ton for a spray if it isnt worth it to you. A Maaco job on the roof should keep it just fine. Same reason I wasn't about to pay for my whole truck. If in the future that's something I want to do, at least I know a ballpark. For now I need to figure the hood out because the peeling has spread to the top of the fenders. Fun!
