Yeah paint is money no matter what. My Taco took hail damage last Spring. Was a great looking truck, still nice but now you can see a few little dents from. I’m just going to enjoy and drive it as is and keep it as nice as I can. These are great trucks for the most part.

I decided to DIY paint my land rover D-90. Bought a gun from Eastwood and small compressor. Quart of paint was $300 so not cheap. Color match was tricky but I'm very pleased with the quality of the finish. All in for tools and paint was $1k compared to the $3k estimate for the rear area. And I learned a new skill. I thought about doing my '00 taco with failed clear but truck is a farm truck.

Come around southern Illinois , bring your gun ! I’ll put you to work !
Now that you have the hardware crap, I’d be painting everything that would hold a coat ! That’s awesome though, glad it turned out good, I’m not a painter , it would probably look worse if I tried to go that route.

Had to laugh at the bring your gun comment. Been a bit since I lived in IL so I get it.

im pretty far removed from chiraq, im almost in Kentucky. Pretty peaceful and honest folk down here, but most of the locals grew up hunting and fishing, myself included. I’ve been flirting with the idea of retiring in southern Missouri ozarks or West Virginia. Such beautiful places. Underrated. Nehoo, good evening to you fellas, tomorrow’s a new day.

Pretty sure I’m getting a throw out bearing noise in my clutch. If so I’ll be outsourcing that work, possibly to Toyota dealer in my town. No noise when pedal is up, whining noise when pedal is depressed , continues until pedal is up. Master cylinder was low, below minimum line, and brownish discoloration to the dot3 fluid. These are the only symptoms I’ve noticed.

if it is diagnosed as throw out bearing which , I’m pretty sure..I’ll be having them put new flywheel and flywheel bolts, rear main seal, clutch plate, pressure plate, pivot fork and any other wearable items accessible when they separate the engine from the transmission.
still shifts and drives fine. Maybe I’m wrong. I’ve had master and slave cylinders replaced once, and rear main seal once. Had a trans leak which forced them to separate to reseal, opted for new rms. When they did the rms they reported no clutch parts were needing to be replaced. Guess I’ve been driving it right. But this time around it’s at 250k, it’s getting all new clutch.

Planning to do the idler and tensioner pulley, starter, fuel filter, big 7 and alternator myself. May holler at a mechanic buddy to take a ride with me see what he says before I go to any shop or the dealer, and most if not all of my planned work should get done this week, God willing.

The delivery guy that put the package on my porch saw all my tool kit scattered about and was like, yep this must be the place! Haha. I am almost certainly going to be doing a timing belt water pump job when the clutch is serviced. (If my diagnosis is correct, I hope I’m wrong of course)

Second opinion buddy that knows more than me said 100% throw out bearing.
    Bummer.
On the bright side, my company car is a Toyota Camry 2021. Don’t know if it’s the 4 or the 6 cylinder yet. Stoked about it being a yoda!
Bolts are lubed for work tomorrow morning, starter and alt getting swapped. Good evening gentleman.

Used a 3/8” bit to drill out the threads on the alternator, worked perfect. In case anyone needs that info.

So I improvised with a M8 bolt and I got the alternator bolt off the broken pivot bolt. Got the alternator and starter on, and I’m getting a damn ugly noise with this aftermarket starter. Buddy said
