Suspend the loose cable end up high as you can, a piece of wire to the hood should do.

Make a small "funnel" out of electric tape around the end and fill it up with something like PB Blaster or my personal favorite a Moly Chain Lube.

Let the lube work down into the cable, replenish it a few times while you go do something else.

Cautiously pull on the cable end, with a helper in the truck to work the other end.
Work it back and forth, apply more lube and work it some more.

Usually this will free them up nicely.

This is a very useful lube to keep handy, it works on chains obviously but also control cables, locks, hinges, garage door rollers, etc. You can get a similar product at TSC or a well stocked auto parts or farm store.

Thanks rusty! Seems like you’ve done this once or twice .
I’m gonna try it. Nice to know the cable isn’t 50 bucks also. If it don’t play ball I will just slap another one in there.
