May need to sell. What is my 3rd Gen worth?

Due to my job I may need to relocate. Should this happen, and would need to sell my 3rd Gen; What is a reasonable price for my Tacoma? Thanks!

Aftermarket parts you’ve added have somewhere between 0-50% of retained value, unless you go back to stock and sell parts separately. Depending on buyer, of course, but they’re not value adders unless you find the right guy with too much money and eager to spend it.

Same as every used truck bought or sold anywhere in the US.

 

Whatever the internet tells you. All your accessories mean zero dollars to the next guy. Believe it or not a completely stock truck is worth the same as a modded out truck with Fox shocks, lift wheels and tires and bumpers. Dealers can get away with it but not individuals.

 

NADA trade or retail value depending on how you wish to dispose of it. Aftermarket accessories add no to very little value.

Nice truck. I'd say 26 to 30k would be realistic. Take it to car max and try to get a few grand more than what they offer selling private party

 

I got offered 30k for my 17 with 33k miles and some light work done to it. They’re selling new ones for $33k-$35k so it’s hard to get a good number. I’d say anything near 29k, maybe 28k private party would be good and call it a day. As explained, add-ons mean nothing to someone and even to someone who knows what they’re buying, generally an unmolested truck means the truck hasn’t been abused or exposed to elements that will require more extensive maintenance.

 

If you don't mind my asking, why would you need to sell, if you relocate?

If you can divorce yourself from believing your collection of personalizations will have value to someone else, then based on the info you've given, ignoring your personalizations and assuming your truck qualifies in the 97th percentile of excellent condition, KBB says $24500-$26900 as trade in value. That's probably your low bar for a quick sale.

If the condition is less perfect, subtract maybe $1500. Selling yourself, maybe add 10% to that range. Or add 15% if you're able to keep it listed for several months and hope for that perfect person as a buyer, who might be willing to add maybe a grand for your personalizations. It's a nice looking truck by the way, and the personalizations aren't too extreme, but the universe of people who want a red truck is not big. If you price it low enough, you might draw in some who are willing to look beyond the red, but who wouldn't buy it at more of a market-rate price.

 

I've got a 16 DCSB O/R auto with premium and tech and every option and its like 29,995 in excellent condition. 26k on the odometer. Was 40k new.

 

Damn. Might as well try to find a way to keep it!

 

These new 3rd gens aren't holding their value like seconds gens. And like a previous poster stated if you can get a new one for like 34k or 35k it's hard to get near that on a used 3 year old one for trade etc.

 

$25-$26k with your miles,extras mean nothing.

It’s a high demand model, which is why it doesn’t always make sense to buy used.

When my truck was totaled out it had only depreciated $400 in retail value. That was at 4 years of age and 58k miles. Tacoma’s are great in for resale, except for the fact it’s expensive to buy them used. So private party sales aren’t too hard to do, but pricing has to be pretty attractive compared to dealership pricing for used trucks.

My truck was $24,800 new. When I got my check from State Farm for the total loss payout, it was $29,990.
