They might but if it’s a popular one it will probably cost you like 100 bucks

Good to know that oil change interval/black stone threads are the same on virtually every vehicle forum across the internet, regardless of make/model. Lol

Buffered gauges (Not a new thing actually) ... Are way better than waiting to hear a 'ding-ding!' and an Idiot Light pop up on the dash.
(Which, 'Check Engine' could be a hundred different things...)
I'll take gauges (No matter how much they suck as you think) over the ding-ding-light on the dash, any day of the week.

Gotta' agree ... Whatever makes ya feel good/confident about what you're doing.
Some of the other posts about ... Not exactly, but in general, about 'If you do more maint than what is recommended, you're an idiot, or know nothing' .. I don't get. Like I say, 'NObody has ever been sorry they did TOO much maint.' ... Oh well ...

Your gauges are basically an idiot light. That's his point. My temp has been at 230-240f and the Guage stayed in the center. Never moving from the halfway point.

OK, so (Maybe) is this still a bad thing? Is having a CE light come on, a better thing than having a full set of gauges let you know you still have vital functions? Vital Functions as in 'OK, I can still drive this home' thing?
Hey, I can live with a gauge being a bit off.. (NO gauge is perfect) ... But if the CE light comes on, That can be a hundred different things.
If I have a CE light come on, because it's some weird sensor or something, that's one thing. An OS sensor or an EGR valve showing up 'bad' will not keep me from getting home.
Things that are vital/crucial .. Oil PSI .. Temp ... Charging ... (and obviously fuel) ... You need (For me, anyway) those things to make decisions. One way or the other...

I'm not exactly sure, but u don't just get an illuminated CEL (if at all, idk), you also get a warning on the instrument cluster like engine temp high. Having a full set of guages is another issue entirely. So like I said, the Guage is more akin to a dummy light than an actual useable analog Guage.

Interested in seeing the results but I'm guessing it will be a few weeks before I get the samples sent off.
One sample will be from 2017 with 20k miles, V6 and the other a 2013 at 100k miles.
What the sample kits look like; someone posted a good description. 20210216_153334.jpg

I like the upgrade... For what it's worth, I've found (On the 4 cyl ... No idea about the V6's) ....
That the stock filter (Toyota YYZD1 or WIX 51348 for example..) A Fram (And I'm just using Fram numbers as an example) that a PH1 or PH43 ... The filters that have been on Mopar/Ford V-8's and 6 cyls, for decades... The screw-on stud is the same dia & thread pitch, along with with the gasket dia. ... The same as 'the recommended' Toyota filter. With the other filters being bigger and longer than a stock filter. Which, with all things being equal.. Bypass valve/filter element and such, gives you a LOT more square inches of actual filtering element in the filter. This, in my mind can never be a bad thing.
I think that after my 'free' oil/filter changes are used up, I'll be going with bigger filters. And having to add some extra oil at an oil change .. Ehh, who cares.

I just did the first oil change at 5k. There was quite a bit of metal in the filter but definatly not enough to clog it our anything. The filter was doing it's job that's for sure

For anyone's information i happened to be reading what the original oil toyota fills these engines with when they leave their plants. Exxon mobil supplies their oil. Its suppose to be considerably better, or much different than the mobil 1 synthetic we buy in the stores. Toyota claims their oil contains much higher amounts of molybdenum than any of the other synthetics. Now i just wonder if the dealers use the toyota oil when its time for your oil change?

If that site recommended people loan their spouse out to keep the wear and tear off their own intimate bits they'd do it
