2.5” OME lift, Koenig Six Shooter wheels, 275/70r17 Nokian Outpost AT, CMC, Nitro 4.88s, Greenlane aluminum sliders, CBI aluminum skid, Greenlane aluminum front bumper, Out Gear Solutions HC rear bumper, Baja SAE fogs
Then contribute more to that topic. The conversation has not actually strayed very far.

Kinda my point. It's arguing over absurdity at this point.

Oil threads are usually absurd. Everyone wants clear, cut and dry answers where they don’t exist. All that exist are principles, likelihoods, tendencies, etc.

OP seems to want validation that changing early prevents significant wear. While it’s clear there are higher detectable wear metals in the first ~5k, it is not clear how much they actually contribute to significantly increased wear to the point it would cause any long term effect on the engine. Logic dictates it’s not a bad idea to get them out if the oil, but it’s also dubious whether it makes a huge difference.

One might argue that just changing the filter early from the inefficient Toyota OEM to one with a 99%@20 micron rating without changing the oil is equally valid, for example.

As many as it takes. You can argue about 10k ocis in the 20 other threads.

the whole point of this thread was to show with lab results, as to how much crap is floating in the oil from the factory fill

It's a good rule to follow at 50k miles as it is at 5k

Lab results have showed time and again that my 10k oil change intervals have been more than adequate, I can even go longer between changes.

Lol, usually? I have been a member of multiple car and truck forums, and I have never seen anything like the seemingly daily tribology circle jerk that goes on here!

Most folks here argue between 5k and 10k mile intervals. I'm on the 7.5k program just to strike a balance.

I did my first at like 9k miles, after it’s been always 5k. Every 6 months or so.

None of that crap will affect the performance and longevity of the engine

It’s good you’ve adjusted your trolling to be more accurate. I’m glad you now understand your use case is different from others.

I’ve heard that the 2gr-fks engine uses 5w30 in the Mexico version instead of 0W-20, y’all don’t think it would hurt my Tacoma to use 5w-30 after the warranty expires? I’m a lube tech at Toyota, so I know how they are about warranty issues.
