I don't know about you, but I change my washer fluid every 1k. I had it analized and the shitloadcarbons were through the roof. The pooptalatrons were excessively high. I couldn't believe how many cornonium nuggets were busheled 10x the untainted fluid. Yep, you have to believe the science. Running your washer fluid beyond 1K is just asking for trouble.

You have to cut that in half if you drive under “extreme conditions”.

Yeah I gotta call BS on your lab results. Pooptalitron and shitloadcarbon compounds are highly reactive with each other, they wouldn't exist in the same solution. You can't have those two unless they are at their solubility limited trace levels and also buffered by their reaction product, Sodium-Dumpbadonkadonk.

Yeah but, if dilithium crystals are introduced with those chemicals there should be no reaction.

While it's true that dilithium crystals could slow this reaction, you would need to supply inverse reactive current in your unilateral phase detractor to completely stop it. But, you would then need to automatically synchronize your cardinal grammeters which is a whole other project in itself.

To sum up the banter. Multiple reports showing incredibly high metal concentrations during the initial fill, as it is common in most engines.

20-30X more than at 10K miles on a broken in engine even at 3 to 4k miles on the oil.

If you'd like to keep that initial fill for 5-10k miles in your taco is the question at hand.

I voted to change it at 3k, if I get another one I'd probably change at 1k, right after break in.

Trying to keep a thread on track, especially an oil thread, is like trying to hold onto a shit covered rope. The harder your squeeze the more slippery it becomes.

I've always felt that 10k was a little long for oil. I was always taught 3k for conventional and 5k for synthetic. However, like with anything, it depends on how you use your engine, especially when it is new.

This time I decided to try the 10k oil change to see what I think. Especially after seeing this after 5k miles. My last truck was black by 5k, although it had far more miles on it.

I changed mine at 5k for piece of mind. then again at 10k, and again at 15k. at 15k I switched to Amsoil Signature series with amsoil filters. gonna run 10k intervals now and see how it does. I'm gonna do Blackstone labs test on my next change.

I have a new 4Runner that's right around 3000miles. Different engine but you've convinced me that it won't hurt to change the oil now.

I'll do it now and then at the standard 10k interval after that.

Do the same when I eventually snag a Tacoma.

Data points that this is the way to go. I mean I am sure you can leave it in for 20k miles, but if you'd like to keep things nice, the oil in there is quite nasty due to break in.

My Dad passed in August and had a '09 Nissan Frontier with about 140K miles. Knowing my Dad, I would be shocked if he changed the oil more than 2 or 3 times, tops. I figured the truck would be a complete basket case but was amazed at how well it ran. I put a battery in it, changed the oil and sold it to a co-worker (yes, I cautioned them that my Dad was not known for doing maintenance, but the really wanted the truck). So far, so good. Modern lubricants do an amazing job.

I did the same with my 2020 ... Changed it at 3K miles. Used a factory Toyota filter and Mobil 1....
I've always been a big believer in changing the break in oil/filter far sooner than what is recommended.
Unnecessary? Maybe. Old Habits die hard. For the $30.00 it cost me for oil and a filter and 30 minutes of my time, does it make me feel better and sleep better? Immensely. Cheap insurance and all that.
I wouldn't disagree with the stats you posted .. When I took the old filter off and let it drain all the way... It did feel a little heavier than I thought it might/should have been. It did make me feel pretty good thinking that I got any initial break-in crap cleaned out and not floating around in the engine. I've always said, as my dad told me, that nobody was ever sorry they changed their oil/filter too often.
