Sounds like ball joints to me. Yes, you could do them yourself with the right tools.

Check over your ball joints, Tie rods ends, and CV's...all those can pop if they go bad.

Where would be the best place to get these because when I checked on ball joints upper and lower they weren't cheap, what about cv joints is there a place to get all for cheap. This will sound crazy but are there any pictures of how to change all of these and what tools I would need. Most shops that I asked said $200 approx. for each side for ball joint replacement labor and I don't know about cv joints. I am getting ready to add billies up front with eibach coils and I just want to fix what is broken or damaged first.

    thanks for your help

Check out MOOG for the parts, or check out autozone if you are a tight budget. I used autozone duralast tie rods for my truck and they were made by 555 in Japan (same as MOOG) for half the price.

Search around on 4x4wire and TTORA and on TW for writeups for the work. Ball joints, CV's and TR's and actually pretty simple to do yourself.
