    Hello all,

Looking at new mid sized pickups and I'll be honest, I've never had anything but Jeeps before. Currently am in a 2012 Grand Cherokee and I hate the thing to pieces - rattles, mechanical issues, enough to drive you crazy. Decided to lol at Tacomas and got quoted a great deal on a lease on a 2017 Limited with tubular steps, tonneau cover and mud flaps for 2278 down and 445 a month 3/36 (at least this doesn't seem bad to me?). What has me scared now is all reading through this forum and hearing many issues that are eerily similar to my GC right now.. don't get me wrong, I know most people on forums talk modding or to look for solutions, but are these things really that bad? The reviews have been lackluster to say the least. It's the perfect sized truck, and has the option for a sunroof (which Chevy and GMC seemed to have left out) plus I find them way more attractive looking than their competition. Am I just being paranoid?

Definitely leasing and reevaluating options when Ford Ranger comes out.. not loyal to any brand in particular and the dealership I'm looking at sells a variety of vehicles

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Test drive one as long as you can before you lock yourself into lease. Understand the motor is not going to be like your current vehicle first, and it is supposed to be that way. (Research Atkinson cycle).

If you are going to lease and ditch it after 3 years, why not lease a SR5. Check lease specials in your area, but right now for me they have the SR5 for 279 a month for 36 months. I forget what the down payment is but it wasn't anymore than 3k.
Just saying, if you dont plan on keeping it why go for the gold.
Also, sure there are many folks with issues, but remember, this is a forum where people come to ask questions and also complain about design flaws, so take it as you wish.

    Don't lease. Buy a used 2nd gen.

That said, I haven't had any issues with my 2017 and have been quite happy with it.

The ones that have issues are the ones that make the most noise. Us that don't have issues tend to talk about modding or other things rather than bitching about our trucks.

Not looking at SR5 cause it doesn't have any of the features I want, looking at a TRD OR or Limited, want a sunroof and will decide on leather seats. I'll be honest, I don't take vehicles off road often, but do use the truck for transporting kayaks/surfboards/Home Depot trips etc. only other tuck I've driven is an F150 and they are just way out there expensive. also, I am looking to lease as i will not put 12k miles a year on it, and after the horror I have had with this jeep, and owning it, I don't want the aggravation. Hence why I am looking at a Toyota... had 2 other jeeps and an F150 in the family, jeeps have problems daily! You get used to the check engine light being on

I wouldn't get one. The issues the truck has are howls, vibes, rattles, squeaks, etc. If that's bothering you in your current vehicle, these characteristically do all the above.

According to Toyota it's normal for these trucks to squeak over the smallest bump. It's normal to hear a 400hz howl from the rear end when driving down the highway.

It's all characteristically normal behavior. They won't even attempt to fix it.
