The only way I would lease...

Stupid cheap payment (less than $300/month), option to buy at the end or earlier without much of payment increase, a contract stating mileage limits are high (20k/year w/out penalty) and light damage is allowed (shit happens when you have fun).

And btw, a 2wd anything is more than capable of hauling kayak. Definitely don't need a shiny new 4x4 Taco for that. To each their own.

Can you imagine how difficult it would be to clean out the Land Between the Lakes silty mud splash from the inner workings of a sunroof? o_O

I bought a '14 May 1st this year, and problems started happening right at the start. First thing, my garage door opener quit working, had to buy a new one. Wife says the truck just wanted a quiet opener. Second happened yesterday. I hooked up the trailer (after having to buy an adapter to fit the 7 pin connector on the truck), and the lights don't work. Found a broken ground wire on the trailer, fixed it, and they still don't work. Will tackle that later on today.

I'm tellin' ya...this truck is just a pot full of work...:fingerscrossed:

    I'm joking guys...

If the garage door opener is integrated, I can see that being a "problem with the truck".

However, if the trailer lights didn't work, it's not the truck's fault the trailer lights were bad.

Yeah I think I'm being paranoid and knowing Toyota Tacomas were generally regarded as bullet proof, hearing some of the issues made me a bit worried.. but then again nothing is perfect. This Jeep though.. 55k miles on a 2012... alternator went, fuel pump, issue with oil drain plug bolt being wrong material (live in northeast, swings of cold/warm weather caused it to expand into the drain plug neck, had to drill it out), AC blower rattles, glove box ratttles, passenger seat rattles, push start doesn't always work. The list goes on! Ready to never have one again

You sound like you have your mind made up. Test drive the shit out of it. Feather the throttle at 55-60mph and see if it howls. That's not even a guarantee that it won't, but at least you'd not have it from the outset. That's an issue impacting 50% of buyers and my service manager said they all do it.

You won't get away from rattles squeaks vibrations or weird noises with this thing. It won't leave you stranded somewhere (unless your cps fails --known recall )but it's far from perfect.

I edited my post to say that I was joking. Actually, I hated the pos Genie opener since we bought the house in '08. Noisiest clunker I've ever had; was glad to pitch it. The trailer is old also, not blaming the truck for trailer wiring. The truck is great; a '14 with only 7000 miles on it when we bought it. Got 9500 on it now...

Luckily I hate the ridgeline so no worries. I think that thing is ugly as all hell and just doesn't have a good look at all

Not sure who told you it is normal for the truck to squeak. It isn't. I had my rear leaf springs replaced last year because it was so bad.
