You going to have some kind of latch to prevent someone to sit on edge and go sliding?

That would be funny though. Yeah, I am thinking a pin style hood latch or something along those lines. Only time it will be opened is to access the batteries.
And the string will be replaced with something a little more permanent....

Added bracing for the drawers and the frame of what will become the battery box.

Was working on the kitchen cabinet, then it started raining and I didnt feel like using the table saw inside the garage. So, I did some more wiring work. Got all the wiring terminals on and temporary (cheap) switches on.
Camera sucks in the dark but here are thw outside lights. Brighter in person.

HD clearance section struck again. Had to shorten it to fit. This is just a test part as I want the dual bar curved shower bar. That way one bar can be used as a towel holder. Just wanted to test my idea before I spend $65 on a shower curtain bar.

    Curious about the batteries.
Is that area going to have any ventilation? Flooded cell batteries vent hydrogen. Any chance that base could build up a pocket of gas, open the lid and the gas makes its way to an ignition source?

Regardless Chris, am enjoying the hell out of your build and feel bad that I don't comment more.

One last question, did you weigh the trailer before you started the modification process? Please let know what it weighs after its done.

    Thank

The batteries will be in a plastic box in the fiberglass box. There will be a 2" vent tube at the top rear going out of the box and through the floor. There will be a small fan installed through the front bottom in the fiberglass box. That will put airflow through the box and push the offgassing fumes out the vent tube. The battery box will have its own lid that will seal it from the assembly.
I did weigh it at a state scale, but dont remember where I wrote it. It was pretty close to list weight, a little under. I will get the final weight, some day.

Reinforced box fiberglassed in place. 2 layers of cloth on sides and bottom, additional layer of mat on the bottom and corners. All this is just to keep batteries (4 total) in place and isolated. Plastic box inside the fiberglass box will be there to prevent any leakage.
Everything seems a bit of a clusterfu** by pictures, but I can see where I am going with it. Just jumping back and forth between multiple projects.

Also made new "windows" for the car. They will get sealed in place and kept until I get done with the body work and order a full window set. Matching panels on the inside so I can glue them to the window frame and rivet them together to keep em in place.

Didnt like the color after it was all up. So, I went a little darker. I like it much more now.
Been working on getting the paneling up and openings finished with the router. Waiting for switches/heater vents/12v outlets to get here so I can cut their holes and then I will finish the panels with paint.
Need to make a trip up to find counter top that I like.
    20190508_173329.jpg
Turned the AC on for an hour. Went from 93* inside to 67*. Turned it on low and it maintained 70* for another hour and a half before I shut it off.
I also tested the bed out (kinda fell asleep while measuring for headspace in the cabinet I will build on the back wall) and found that I have to lay straight on my side on the overhanging portion of the bed before it will flip up. So, I am thinking just a basic latch will be more than good enough to hold it.
I will be romoving the rear barn doors amd building a solid wall with an rv door if anyone in the PNW or NorCal wants barn doors for a 7x trailer with spray foam insulation and windows with built in shades.

I will get a picture tomorrow showing the router work... The pic above is just the rough cut openings.

I ordered two replacement skin panels. I will be cutting off the back barn doors, and rebuilding the back to a solid wall with a RV door. Have to get that done before I can build the rear cabinets. So, hopefully they will call to tell me the panels are coming in this week.

If the weather is nice after the first, I will be pulling the car out to get back to work on it. Just gotta clean up and paint the floor structure then get the floor edges finished and installed. Then, I will be ready to put the engine in and start plumbing. Once everything is in and final ride height is set, I will be able to decided if I will narrow the rear end another 3/4" on each side.

This is the counter style I will be going with (had to order a couple larger samples to get a better idea of the look).

And how it is now. Have to get the back wall built before I can build the back cabinets and top corner trim.
