Well, I'm going to have a 479/502 big block that leaks. Builder tried two different rear seals and it still leaked. Told him that it isn't worth the time and money to hunt for a solution to a problem that probably won't get fixed. I'll go pick it up next week if I get time. It'll sit on a stand for a few months (Ill rotate it by hand and prime the oil pump to keep everything lubed).
I purchased a Dakota that I'll be stripping the body off of and prepping the frame to build to mount my car on.
That is going to wait until my arm recovers from the ulnar nerve transposition.

Picked up my motor today. Builder got it to stop leaking by replacing my brand new billet rear seal retainer with another brand new one. Guessing the first one was a couple thousandths off center.

    Compression is 9.5.
    Sweep 9. Horsepower- 477 @5200rpm. Torque- 506 @4300rpm.
    Sweep 10. Horsepower- 471 @5200rpm. Torque- 509 @4200rpm.
When I get my scanner working and get rid of my headache, I'll post more.

Getting the frame ready to start cutting. Body mounts are coming off, frame horns are coming off, and I will be doing a step cut at the back of the frame rails to weld in 11ga 2"x5" extensions.

Frame shortened. Still need to cut and flatten the taper. Inside cut is waiting for the crossmember to get done so I can make it exactly right.

New rails. 2"x4"x3/16". Rails are 6' long. 8' section for rear crossmember and bracing.

Out working on the frame and got tired of pulling my grinding mask up and having my beard try to go with it.
So I gave my mask a lip piercing.

Picked up another rear end today. $250, with Sure-Grip (Posi). Drums were beyond stuck. Took me about two hours with a sledge hammer to get them off.

Can't quite tell what you added to the helmet.

I just got done waxing my lenses so I could see out of mine. Carnuba wax tripples the life of the consumable lenses...and it smells great too.

I have had these for 10+ years. They have a weird thread pattern that I couldn't find anywhere other than the 3 bolts they had when I found them. Works as a great handle.

That pic helps. Thanks. That would make a nice handle.

I've got drawers full of gadgets that I hope I can repurpose. Glad you could make that part useful.

Yeah, I'm waiting for my welding helmet to die, then I'll get the auto adjust lens for the SnapOn. Until then, it's my grinding mask.

The "new" third member. Hot tanked to get as much grime as possible out of it, sand blasted to get the buildup and thick paint markings off the exterior, then oiled I keep it clean until I do the final cleaning and paint. Gotta rebuild the Sure-Grip, and re-gear (going with 3.55).
Before it gets rebuilt or painted, I am going to narrow the axle tubes. Using the third member to help keep everything aligned.

Doing some more work on the frame. Getting things figured out for motor mounts and exhaust. Got a front crossmember/radiator support/body mount built, in the process of figuring out how to purdify the transition from the OE frame (had to butcher it up to get things right). Thinking I am going to get it all welded up, then box it with steel plate.

Mocking up the frame tabs using cardboard. Motor is gonna sit pretty high, but it would look better high and centered than it would 2.5" lower and off center. I'll get the shapes transferred to steel tomorrow. Monday I'm gonna sand blast the front stubs and the sections between the OE front crossmember and the rear LCA mounts. That will give a good clean base for welding. Still can't use a regular filter attached to the oil pump, so I am going to reuse the remote filter setup I had before.
