They could give me a million mile warranty I still wouldn't buy it. I don't want to bother with getting it fixed all the time even if it's still under warranty. I remember my buddy's old Excel, what a pile that thing was. I was able to bend the door with my bare hands when it got tweaked. Maybe they make decent cars now but I still can't forget what pile of shit that old Excel was.

Long time coming but here is my status update on a Hyundai. Traded said Sonata in yesterday for a Honda CR-V, had nothing but postive things to say about the Sonata. Treated us well, never had to do anything with it other than the wife didn't screw the gas cap all the way one time and that set off a warning light that cost us about $100 give or take. Not the cars fault there LOL. Would consider buying another... this case is closed.

I know it' hard to really tell but, how did you do on the trade in value on the Sonata?

I remembe when Hyundai came out with the longer 10/100 deal. Seems I remember it was to help stimulate sales...other manufactures have upped theirs as well. I'm not sure I'd buy one...yet but, I agree with some of the older post in the thread. Hyundia is (or seems to be) improving.

They gave us about $500 off of KBB value so about $4000 in trade in which is why you should sell private party, but I'll admit its so much easier to trade in. I did wince when i seen their numbers....but I signed the paperwork regardless.

Again we really had a great experience with the Sonata, wife wanted to try Honda so we went that way this time.

Dependability has nothing to do with length of warranty.

Just because I am a government retiree, I am very qualified to give you the best answer. My nephew put up a good word for me. Now, just in case you do not know,
we both got into "Toyotas" at the wrong time.

And you are correct. I've got 3 friends that drive nothing but Hyundai. One of them had an old T-100 that's had a head gasket go at 66k on the 3.slow and Toyota refused to cover it even though it was a known issue. He ended up getting a Tibaron and at 120k the power steering pump went. Took it to Hyundai and the fixed it for free for him. To my knowledge his boy is still driving that car around with close to 300k on the odo.

I'll give credit where it's due and Hyundai is nothing to balk at.

I was referring to vehicle dependability, not warranty dependability. In JDP's 2015 vehicle dependability study, Toyota ranks 9th with 4/5 stars. Hyundai ranks 26 with 2/5 stars, two higher than Fiat.

Say what you want about Toyota, but their quality has been on the decline for a few years AT LEAST. I can not say I'm 100% satisfied with my truck after some of the failures I've had including one that left stranded on the side of the road.

I don't believe in product loyalty, your product and longevity speaks for itself. Much like actions speak louder than words. I feel like what they are doing as of lately is using subpar materials to build a vehicle, slapping their well known brand on it, calling it a premier vehicle built with "premier materials" and riding on their brand reputation to make money. You can cheat the public out of their money, you can only do it for so long. Which is why GM went bankrupt at one point.

Toyota is becoming the new GM. That is most likely due to the fact that they are IN bed WITH GM. Don't believe me, go look at the new Colorado/ Silverado and Tacoma power window master switches, power steering reservoirs etc.

If Toyota is using the same manufacturers and builders that GM is, what are the chances that they are assembling these new vehicles for them at the lowest bidder offer? (Something GM is very guilty of, and their plethora of Recalls, TSB's, and common failures speak for that.)

Removed factory bed cover and installed UnderCover Elite. Added LOCKERDOWN console safe.
Toyota sales double what Hyundai sales with the warranty as is.

I still like Toyota, it'll still buy a Toyota but from what I've seen, Hyundai has some solid vehicles. They may rank low with CR or JDP but every one I've seen or rode in had a solid fit and finish as well as it felt like a solid vehicle.
