So far the gas mileage has been the biggest surprise with my truck. I have a 2nd home at the coast that I travel to almost every other week and it is a 230 mile trip one way. The first trip I made the display indicated a little over 26 mpg and I didn't think there was any way that could be correct. I had filled up right before I left and I stopped and filled up again after arriving and was only able to put in 8.5 gallons of gas which calculated out to 26.2 mpg. I consistently get 25-26 mpg on this trip. One thing that I think really helps is that the trip is mainly flat with not a lot of elevation changes, and I average 62 mph on the trip based on the amount of time it takes me. There are some sections where I can do 75, but most of the roads are 55-65 mph speed limit and I typically only do 5-7 mph over. The air conditioning runs constantly on the trips also. I've had 2 2nd generation Tacomas in the past and I don't think I ever got over 20 mpg with either one of those. I'm pleasantly surprised that I'm able to do this in a 4 wheel drive 4 door, especially based on how many people on here that are disappointed with their mpg.

I feel ya brother. Almosting getting the same gas mileage I did in my f150 I wonder why I got rid of it half the time. If it wasn’t for the fact that it costed me another $100 a month I would of stayed in it. Although I’m thinking with how much better it drive the extra money would of made me happier. Miss the sound of those turbos spooling, the ride comfort, torque, acceleration and the size of it. I think I’m only gonna keep this taco another year then I’m gonna get something else

Stock OR tires are a decent compromise I guess. I never really had an issue, and they were OK in snow (not great).

Certainly a lot quieter and return better mileage than my stock size DuraTracs.

There are thousands and thousands of tacos on the road and most have no problems at all. I think most of us are a little pickier because we are more than just your average driver. Some of us are long time owners. Some of us are heavy users. Some of us mod. Some of us are performance tuners. Whatever it is, we are more than just commuters. I love my 3rd gen because of the looks and it has all the bells and whistles. I wish it had the same engine note as the 4.0, but it performs well (at least well enough so far). I just hope this one is just as reliable as my old one. :D
