well see it could be some thing just with 07 TRD off road doublecabs some seems a lot of people have this model or similar so could be an engine or transmission issue that other models dont have.

what you could do is contact toyota and ask for a Field service Engineer at least thats what Ford calls them. Bassicly an engineer comes out and helps the tech with the issue and 9 times out of 10 they will fix the concern

I had read on another forum about a problem with a sloppy drive shaft spline. The spline is where the front half and the back half connect at the carrier bearing. Apparently some have greater tolerances than others and that is what causes the rumble feeling on deceleration. I'll try to find the post from whatever forum it was on.

    Hi all,
Ok, first off. I do appreciate all the time from each of you in trying to trouble shoot these uncomfortable concerns.
The vibration is absolutely not tires, if they have been swapped for a completely different brand of tires and the problem still exists than that fairly well removes tires from the equation.
The problem is somewhere in the drive line, like the drive shaft, u-joints, carrier bearing, torque converter, ring & pinion, and maybe possibly the flywheel but I doubt that.
My exact model is a 2007 access cab, 4x2, V6, auto, TRD off road, tow package.

As far as the engine ticking, it is not and I repeat not a manifold or exhaust issue like the earlier TSB for replacing manifolds. My VIN is far outside of the scope of that recall. Also my ticking is very clearly coming from the drivers side...very clearly. The dealer heard it for all of 2 seconds and closed the hood and said the valve covers need to be removed and the valves and or lifters adjusted. Again...not acceptable in a brand new 400 mile truck.

I take care of all my mechanical machines. I bought a Toyota based on everyone I have ever spoken to that has said and I quote "I've got 250,000 miles on it and all I've ever done is change the oil and tires" end quote.

I have listened to 3 other 2007 V6 Tacoma's and none had a ticking sound emitting from the engine compartment.

I wish those of you the very best with yours and any issues you might have. I will happily accept an EXACT replacement from Toyota. Barring that I permanently part company from them.

dude they arnt going to give you a new truck if they can fix the one you have

the law down here states the you get 3 repair atempts or 30 days some thing like that on the same concern then you can go lemon law

if you are reasonable then the dealership will work with you and help you but if you are an ass about it then they are just gonna blow you off and half ass it

why is it unacceptable? if all needs to be done is adjust the valves then let them your arnt paying for it. and as for the vibration tell the dealership you want an engineer to come out and look at it we do it all the time at ford. Nothing is perfect toyota doesnt build perfection every single time once in a while there is a bad apple, tell them you want some free shit or some thing

Observe your tachometer as you decelerate into that speed range...I think you'll see the revs blip up as your AT downshifts.

I haven't noticed any engine ticking noises.

frvrngn, I 've been fighting this surging/lurching for quite some time. I've filed complaints with Toyota Corporate/Dealerships/NHTSA. There actually has been at least two forum members who have had fender benders as a result of this and NHTSA is still doing a preliminary investigation to force Toyota to fix this. I know personally about 10-12 other members have filed official complaints with Toyota and NHTSA on this same issue. However, unless more people complain about this nothings ever going to be done about it. Here's the info to file your complaint and anyone who's experiencing the surging/RPM hang.
HERE IS THE OFFICIAL NHTSA WEBSITE TO FILE YOUR COMPLAINT:http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/
HERE IS ANOTHER WEBSITE THAT LETS YOU LOAD YOUR VEHICLE AND SHOWS WHAT COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED TO DATE. http://www.mycarstats.com/

I too am having the vibration or "rumble" around 18 to 25 mph as well as at 61 mph. My 07 has less than 1000 miles on it. It has been to the dealer for this problem and they say it is the tread pattern on the tires....which I think is B.S. It is going to another dealer next week to see if they say the same thing.

I talked to the dealership today about my newly arrived vibration at 68 MPH. They said that it is the rotors on the front. Okay. I don't think that is what it is, but if they try to fix it - then they are admitting that there is a problem. So once we get the ball rolling, I know they will make sure it gets fixed.

I bought a 2008 Tacoma 3 weeks ago. I just noticed the ticking noise at about 350 mi. I'm taking it back to the dealer ASAP.

Mine ticks- 15k miles still ticks. No issues. Bought new tires and wheels and vibration is gone. Very happy with truck and it still ticks. Personally I think it just does that. Gets 20-22mpg on the hwy and has plenty of power.

I just picked up my '07 Access cab V6 Auto yesterday and I too have the ticking from the drivers side valvecover and also the shudder when decelerating and around 85 kmh. Only 400 km on it.

My engine sometimes shutters on start up. The shutter while driving was cured by new tires and wheels. Those Dunlop tires they come with are garbage....

No shudder, but ticking, I feel it's just the characteristics of the engine, runs great. :D

I don't know if it's the same ticking that folks are hearing but it's the nature of VVT-i to have ticking.

The "shudder", I have it, and more and more it seems like it only happens when the a/c is on.
