There are other ways I could of handled driving my truck last weekend. But, based off the factors I had before me I did what I felt needed to be done - is it fair for the masses to pick through my actions with a fine tooth comb and call me incompent because of how I handled my truck in those situations???

As a mod I would think you would understand the difference between wearing the weight of decision making and the people who second guess your every move. Maybe being a mod isn't that tough though.

Chill man. I dont know why youre making this about you, or me being a mod. This guy evidently, was just walking along, and the cop called him, then the guy turned to find a gun aimed at him. IMHO, I think thats bad form. The guy wasnt posing a threat. The Cop could have said "Sir, Do you have a permit for open carry?", and it would have been a 5 min. ordeal, that never would have seen the light of day.

Walking along with a voice recorder going or at the ready... looks fishy and sounds fishy. I'm an honest enough person and I don't keep a voice recorder within an arm's reach at all times.

I was just comparing the scrunity levels of this particular officer to the scrunity people apply to mods in general - figured it would be a good example since everyone here is familiar with the thrashing mods receive when they make an unpopular decision.

If it keeps me from going to jail or getting shot, you bet your ass I would agree. A lot of situations like this can be avoided if people would take their heads outta their ass and obey. If they're not doing anything wrong, then they should have nothing to worry about. You might be suprised at how cool a cop can be if you just follow their orders...

Exactly - besides, what kinda wanna-be badass is going to give a cop crap when he is obvisiously wearing a gun; legal or not. You brought your own drop gun... sheesh. :D

Its not about being a wannabe bad ass...its the fact that an innocent person should not be treated disrespectfuly and bullied around by the law

yes cops are people, and everyone understands that. They have a very dangerous and difficult job protecting the people. But if a police officer cannot assess the situation appropriately and use sound reasoning and logic instead of jumping straight to worse case senario and threatening deadly force, then mabye they are not right for the job. There are always people in line behind them that can.

sadly that is just the nature of the job. If you are being paid to uphold the laws on citizens you should understand them well enough that a simple situation like this does not go horribly wrong from the moment the first words of the encounter occured. Just throwing out a thought here, dont flame on me, but is an officer pointing a weapon and threatening a nonthreatening citizens life within the first minute of conversation with them fit to be in the position?

Good point - maybe the Sgt needs to evaluate his mindset and get a refresher in escalation of force.

I never said he was a wannabe badass...

I understand what your saying, but i bet things would've went alot smoother if the guy just got on his knees when told. Any cop is gonna get pissed off when you dont obey their orders.

i doubt it. The cop was coung to fvck this guy over from the second he opened his mouth. Even on his knees and trying to explain his situation. The cop obviously did not know the carry law. And this civilian was not going to change his mind.

but i defanitly know what your saying. As anyone who has delt with police knows, just do what they say, be totaly respectful, dont try to be a tough guy or anything like that. I bet mike was just totaly taken back by the situation that he didnt think he had to get on his knees and didnt understand how quickly the situation would fall apart.
