I seriously don't think it's drone. Loud exhaust is loud. Drone is something completely different. The louder you go, the more cabin noise you will have. Nothing is perfect. Don't like it loud? Keep it stock or buy a quieter system. If it was droning, you literally would have things vibrating and a truly UNBEARABLE sound in your cab. Like putting just one back window down...kinda.

The perception is that it drones, when in reality, magnaflow is much much quieter than the MBRP.

I had one (magnaflow) on my first car back in HS. I dug the tone, but it was pretty quiet most of the time.

I got the MBRP kit as well and found the MBRP muffler to be way loud and had an awful tone. I had the muffler on for 2 days and then swapped it to a Magnaflow muffler using the MBRP piping and kit.

Magnaflow? Might have better tone, but some of us want volume. We know MBRP is louder than magnaflow. I like the tone of MBRP. I also like the volume. I do not like quieter exhausts. Maybe because I am a reckless youth.

One of my friends had the same feeling...called MBRP and they sent him a new muffler that was quieter on the CHEAP. Maybe a different option.

ah. based on the few youtube vids I've seen so far, it sounds like the full length ones have a slightly better tone. The magnaflow was my other choice as well (I just ordered the mbrp full length, which is being delivered today).
How are you liking the magnaflow compared to the mbrp? (is the magnaflow the cat-back full length?)

Honestly, the MBRP is so cheap I figured I'd give it a try before dropping 3+ times as much.

I just installed the MBRP cat back turn down. I like how simple it is. The exterior sound is great, and the engine feels less constrained while gaining elevation at high speed. However, the interior sound makes for a much louder driving experience. I was hoping for some extra growl, but for me the echoing off the pavement is too much. I am sure a bigger muffler will make a huge difference, but I am using this as an opportunity to improve the driving experience by installing the much more expensive solution, which is the Second Skin damplifier and luxury liner vibration and noise dampening system. If anyone cares, I will let you know how much that improves it.

Did it make it quieter with magnaflow over MBRP

I hate to revive this old thread, but not finding the info anywhere else. I just installed the mbrp s5338p exhaust and it's just too much. Was thinking of going with the magnaflow muffler as someone mentioned above, but just can't find any soun clips for something like that. Does anyone have anything or suggestions for something that I can swap out this mbrp muffler for and still use the pipe that came with the kit? Want a little louder than stock, but not as much as the mbrp. I'm also tuned with kdmax, so trying to find something that will all work together.

Pulled the MBRP muffler and installed the Magnaflow. Night and day difference. Way way better. Has the nice deeper mellow tone throughout the entire rpm range, and doesn't kill you with that high tone, raspy sound that it did have. Very happy now and easy installation using the existing mbrp catback pipe.

I am happy with the MBRP. The exhaust is now out of the way providing better clearance. Performance feels better, but certainly is partly due to the fact that it sounds so good my right foot is a little heavier. The downside is that I had to spend a small fortune to install the 2nd skin products. But, once installed the interior noise was easily tolerable, though still louder than stock exhaust. Without the 2nd skin, the exhaust was just too loud.

It sounded good at idle for me, but was way too raspy at any higher rpms. My daughters loved it, but, I guess I'm too old now for that much noise. I really really love the tone of this magnaflow. I didn't dump mine, I went ahead and ran it on out the side, but I really do like it and glad I made the swap. I have a brand new, 2 day old mbrp muffler if anyone is needing one!
