Anyone run the MBRP series exhausts? wondering about highway drone and if it has any. Other exhaust systems that are nice for a daily? Just looking for A nice sound without the annoying scream and bad droning.

Then do not get a MBRP. I have the turn down and love it, but it is loud.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    OEM TRD Performance Exhaust.
Sound + durability. Quiet when you're light on the skinny pedal, and sounds off quite nicely when you are not.
Still working fine after 15 years with my '06 TRD OR when it was sold.
Ordered it for my '21 TRD OR. I expect the same results (it's all stainless steel).

I'm running my second mrbp performance cat back exhaust the louder one and I honestly don't have any issues to claim . It's Canadian made . After two year my first one blew the welds on the inside aka lots of wide open throttle lol. Ummm yeah I have the side exit . Possibly upgrade to duel exit on next round when this one dies on the insides. Lol

Annoying scream and cab drone is EXACTLY what MBRP will get you. Not to mention the raaaaaaasp!! when you hit 4k rpms and above. Run..run far away from MBRP. Go TRD or Borla

MBRP has always and will always sound like ricey shit. I'll bet it rusts nicely like Chokemaster as well.

I have never been impressed with the tones that Borla produces but as they say exhaust is a subjective decision. What sounds good to one person sounds like shit to another.

I really gotta agree with you there Montana, you want something that sounds reproduces a Subaru rally style tone. No sense in trying to make it sound like a V8 because it never will be a V8.

OP, always ALWAYS go for an exit that goes out furthest rear, no turn downs, no sidepipes, none of that BS because a rearmost exit setup will negate drone the most. Stick to stock/ OE location style exits.

I think the best choice will always be custom made at an exhaust shop. That will get you the most bang for your buck and will be a ton cheaper than pre-fabbed "catback" setups. I really don't know what the OPs budget is, however.

As far as suggestions go, I really don't know of a 3rd gen that runs one, but if he's interested he may want to give Black Widow a shot. Zero drone anywhere in the powerband and it's not deep or ricey by any means. They are priced well and are stainless steel as well. I run two on mine (I used to run one and it sounded awesome) with an X pipe and true dual piping all the way through. Oh my god, the 4.0 sounds incredible, like an exotic V8. I actually lower the rear windows just to listen to them now and I never did that with previous setups because they were the worst. Lol.

Just chop your exhaust after the axle. These motors sound terrible.

3.5 V6 will always sound like rice. Borla has been my go-to for all my cars. You pay for their name but I've never had a Borla system sound bad. Just avoid the ATAK variants unless you really enjoy the noise. None of them drone, that's the selling point for me. I doubt I'll ever exhaust a Taco, but if I did that would be my purchase.

If you change the muffler to a Borla (I say this about their "ProXS" muffler, their other models may sound different) then you might as well stay stock because those are so quiet that you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between it and OE. It made my GM V8 LS2 sound so factory that I switched them out a week after I put them on.

Thanks for all the input here lots of love/hate lol. Honestly my engine sounds good at 5500 rpms, kinda F1 sounding right at the redline. I did notice a difference when I added the HPS pipe and flow accelerator to the intake. I bought a full skid instead of exhaust this time around so looks like i'm waiting a few month on exhaust.

I agree on custom made exhaust at an exhaust shop. Tell them what you want as far as clearances, looks and how you want it to sound and they will build it to your exact request.

I got the MBRP turndown on my 2022 SR5. I honestly think the drone isn't THAT bad. Then again I used to have a straight piped WRX... My only issue with the MBRP exhaust is the clamps that come with it are hard AF to tighten.

still love my mrbp performance cat back system. Got better sounding to me my opinion after I got rid of the rear cats.
