Google maps and PowerPoint. My brother spent several hours putting it all together. He finalized them last night with our changes and is going to get them printed on water proof paper so all three of us have them on the ride.

Looks fun. However if your on Bikes. You CAN NOT just drive past the beartooth highway or chief Joseph. You'll be so close to it. You have to do those.

Couple suggestions about the MT and Yellowstone legs of the trip:
Any particular reason you're staying at Mammoth? That campground doesn't take reservations and in the middle of July it will be packed and you guys will be SOL. If you want to camp in the park I would suggest a reroute from Ennis to West Yellowstone and stay at either the Bakers Hole camp just north of town or at Madison camp in the park. Both take reservations but act fast
And 8 hours to get from Mammoth to Utah? Good luck...with road construction and typical traffic you're looking at 4+ hours just to cover the 100 miles in the park. Might want to cut the mileage down on that day.

We are not staying in Mammoth, it was just a good anchor for making the maps. We have a canvas tent reserved.

Traffic and construction is going to be an issue in more than one spot. We will adapt and over come when we need to.

    Thanks for the advice.

 just making sure you know what you're getting into. Gotta be on full alert when driving through the park - people are nuts!!! If you want me and Runner to clear the way for you just let me know :burnrubber:

The best laid plans of men.... We are still doing this trip, but had to make some changes do to work and family things. We are now doing it in reverse and Starting/ending in Phoenix. We were able to make changes to keep our Yellowstone and Yosemite NPs reservations.

Almost 3,800 miles over 14 days.

3 Days of work for me, 1x48hr shift & 1x24hr shift.

My Brother arrives in Phoenix on the 15th

Starting to lay things out and pack.

Only maintenance left to do for me is an oil change.

I really only have Thursday at home to pack up. Feeling a little stressed.

    Day 1: 7-16-16

Well, Day 1! It started with me, at work in Payson. Luckily the EMS gods did not begrudge me and let me get off shift on time. I drove down 87 and was home about 1000. Dad and Randy were working to get rid themselves and their bikes ready to go. Afher a quick shower and a load of laundry, I was right there beside them. Surprisingly I was the first to be ready. It was long after and all 3 of us had eaten some lunch and were suited up for The Ride.

We headed out of Phoenix on 87 towards Payson. Went through Pine-Strawberry, and evenly to Lake Mary Road into Flagstaff.

We have Family Friends in Flagstaff with a beautiful home. It's a large log house that my dad and I helped build 22 years ago. They are always gracious enough to let us stay when even we are passing through. So we got the bikes fueled and secured for the night after having dinner at Miz Zip's on Route 66 .

After we finalized our route for tomorrow and socialized with Wally & Kristi, it was off to get some rest. I was laying under a window with a nice breeze and the moon shining down.

Yesterday we road for 3 hrs 21 mins, traveled 199.4 miles (before our dinner and fuel run) and averaged 60 mph. All in all a good day.

Day 2 will see us getting on the road around 0900 and traveling the reservation roads to Cortez, CO, some where in the 280 miles range.

Made it to Cortez. Spent most of the day riding the back roads of the Navajo Nation. Visit Spider Rock and had Navajo Tacos at the Thunderbird Lodge.

At a B&B about 10 miles West of Cortez. No cell service and a very week wi-if. So no major update or pics today.

Tomorrow we head to Durango and then turn North towards Tuelluride then Montrodr before turning West and then North, ending in Vernal, UT.

image.jpg We made it to Vernal, UT!

Today we got on the road about 0815 and headed to Durango, then up over Red Mountain Pass. Stopped in Montrose for lunch and pushed through the beautiful Grand Mesa National Forest before going through Douglas Pass. All 410 miles of it was amazing. Talk to some interesting people and saw some of the most beautiful places in Colorado.

Tomorrow we have about 380 miles to get to Yellowstone, were we will camp for two nights. Getting a much needed day of rest before continuing on.
