Hey guys ive been reading a ton on the LT bs thread. I have been stuck between Mcm fab and Solo Motorsports kits. I do a lot of snow wheeling when it snows here in California and lots of logging road. Probably will try the rubicon and some other trails as well. I know forsure i will be running Fox 2.5s coilovers in the front and hopefully a 4 link in the rear if i can afford it when the time comes. I like how solo has the uniball LCA. Not a big fan of the ball joint because i have broken a few jumping and beating my mid travel up pretty good. Cant make a decision and would like some help figuaring out what might be best. Thank you for you time and opinions.

I am thinking about ditching my Total Chaos 4wd set-up and going to a 2wd kit. Where are you located?

Call and talk to both several times and get a feel for their customer service/support.
If you are stuck between the two, to me this would certainly be a deciding factor. Shit happens, having the ability to bounce information or questions of a company can be very helpful.

I'm in the exact same boat sans not having any money to dish out so it's all just in my head. I lean more towards solo's kit due to the available upgrade you've mentioned, boxed spindles and the secondary shock mount on the LCA. The price point is about the same which is why you're juggling these options I imagine? MCM looks like a very nice product as well. There is another user on here with a full write up of his installation of the MCM kit. It would probably be worth contacting him to get a first hand impression. His thread is titled "Frankenstein Build," or something similar.

Since I'm here I've been curious for some impressions of the chromoly shafts. It seems to me having those shafts on an otherwise stock axle isn't going to prevent any breakage as the most common sight of failure is the outer CV, not the shaft. I'm sure lots of people here know more than I do about this, can anyone shed some insight?

Of the choices the OP is asking for I would say Solo, if I had a preference I would go Camburg

I'm in the process of installing their XLT kit on my Tundra and so far I am very impressed. I cant yet comment on performance, but they seemed to have thought of everything and their overall quality, fit, and attention to detail is amazing.

Matt at MCM FAB did an excellent job on my Tundra. You can check out the build on FB.

Are you concerned by overall track width? You mentioned wanting to do the Rubicon.. I have the TC +3.5 on my 2nd gen and I wish I had a 1st gen sometimes mainly for the overall width.

The Solo kit is awesome. I was able to inspect the components up close when I picked up my truck from having them install my DMZ SUA kit.

Here are some pics of my Build.
