Nothing is set in stone yet but we are opening up the idea to camp at green ridge on September 22-24th.

Don't know if you're looking to camp or just play around out there, but as far as general info goes, it's a very spread-out, woodsy state forest where most of the campsites are off of fire roads that get mildly rough in some spots (mostly ruts and stuff - passenger cars still make it through). You can camp in some spots where you're a good mile from the next campsite, or some of them are kind of close together if you need multiple sites. Each established site has a picnic table and fire ring, but I've been known to pick random spots in the park and leave no trace. You can't reserve single sites, unfortunately (unless you're paying for a group site), so it's first come, first serve and you have to just hope for the best. If you look at a map and see water (like a stream), don't be fooled. Most of the streams in the park have dried up or are on their way there. It's wise to bring your water with you unless you feel like hunting for a decent stream and filtering, or driving to places where the water is still running well. I believe it's $10 a night per site, up to 6 people and 2 vehicles per site, but generally they leave you alone if you're not being a dick. Deadfall can be used for firewood, but in my experience lately, alot of it is rotted and won't burn well. There is phone service in parts of the park, but maplets provides a decent offline map, as well as the park headquarters. Some of the sites are wide open if you want to use solar, but you can easily tuck in near creek beds and enjoy some shade if that's your thing. The weather is SUPER WEIRD. Can't trust the MD weather reports anyway, but it's especially true at GR. Pack for anything, haha. I'm about 2.5 hours away from the park, but have been known to drive out every weekend for months on end, if that tells you anything. I absolutely adore it out there. Oh! And as of a week ago, some of the fire roads are closed, but we managed to find alternate routes and even clear some downed trees. #parkmaintenance #wheresmymoney

Pm me what you want to know more ,I thought I answered this question once recently but maybe not. It's a 47,000 acre forest with a 100 camping sites scattered around it no facilities except at the ranger station .You have to check in at ranger station to camp if you arrive after hours there's a sign in sheet and a place to drop your cash. It's First come first served for sites they fill up quickly every weekend ,holidays you should be there either Thursday or before the sun rises Friday to get a spot for the long weekend.. All 4x4 trails are closed .. The forest roads are dirt /gravel all can be done in 2wd some of them are well rutted and some flood during heavy rains. There are a few roads that are fun to drive on and a few creek crossings also ..This is a great place to camp and explore most campsites are very private and quiet . If there's anything else just pm me and I'll try and answer it.
