If I could do it over again, I'd do GMRS instead of ham. There's still a license required, but there's no studying or test involved. Just a $70 fee and you're good for 10 years.

The benefit is simplicity. Think a walkie talkie on steroids. A walkie talkie (FRS) is limited to 2 watts of power whereas GMRS is 50 watts I think. Then no programming of radios or anything, just select a channel and privacy and bam.

EDIT: And I think you can still talk to regular walkie talkies with them, which would be handy for spotting or someone who comes along that doesn't have a license

First vid of a 2 part series covering our adventures yesterday in Green Ridge State forest just south of PA. Had a blast and it was great meeting some of you guys! The rain the past week made the water crossings FUN!

    Watch the video HERE!

 Welcome to the off road life. More than likely it's dirt and grit in between your leafs. If you feel so inclined, you could jack the rear up and take off your wheels, and pressure wash in between the leafs. That might help.

I heard that was also great to spray on your upholstery and headliner to keep it smelling factory fresh. :)
