    The problem with cruise around for a site is that while it may be vacant at the time you find someone else could be at the ranger station already signing the book to take it and they would have the right to have it first .best thing to do is go to station and and look at the sign up sheet and map . JMO ,been there done that

    If cell reception wasn’t a issue it would great to have someone looking for perfect site and someone at the station ready to sign but most carriers don’t have any towers near area

    Off season that works fine just drop your gear and head up afterwards

    I'm gonna look at what's left on the sheet and pick one. I dont mind meeting up and convoying. I am meeting a buddy in frederick to convoy anyways, so that's perfect.

    Last time I went they were going to let us put down a site, explore, and if we found a site we wanted more thy were going to let us call and change it. Not sure if they will let you do that since it’s probably a lot busier but probably wouldn’t hurt to ask

    The Rangers are vey accomadating and probably would do this if there’s not many people camping due to forecast ..As of now there’s a 60% chance of rain/thunderstorm for Sat in Flintstone Md

    So on saturday I will be getting to GR around 1 now. I will find a decent sized campsite and post which one it is in this thread. We will definitely be split up across multiple sites, so if I can find a couple near each other, then I will get both of them.

    For the people coming on just Sunday: we will meet at the ranger station at 930 to setup. If anybody wants to air down, there is a spot that we stop at to air down on the trail.

    The list I quoted is the most recent list I have minus a couple tentative people. I will do my best to keep it updated throughout the week.
