You'll be shocked to see there are a high volume of "repiars"

They are fantastik spillers as well..

Shoot, I just called my local mechanic when I found an oil leak under my truck. Almost 2 weeks before he can get me in!

Get ready for higher costs to keep a vehicle going. Hybrid, electric, turbo. These things cost more to repair than your 4 banger Camry. Parts shortages, mechanic worker shortages. New technology that no one wants to learn.

I'm a mechanic, this industry doesn't pay that great. It's a dying breed of work and honestly not worth it for most. I happen to love working on cars/trucks so it's easy for me.

I was mostly poking fun at the "high volume" of vehicles coming in for repair, and the typos.

It’s pretty common in California for them to charge you a diagnostic fee for your vehicle, the Toyota dealerships do it as well.

When my steering rack was going out on my 4Runner, my local Toyota dealership said they will charge me $200 for a diagnostic fee even if they don’t find anything.

People in California like to go to the dealer to diagnose a problem and then take the printout to their local mechanic to save money. And they assume the dealership will spend hours trying to figure out what the fuck is wrong with your vehicle for free. It’s not going to your doctor if you’re healthy and expecting him not to charge you.

Labor costs up to $240 an hour at some dealerships because they can’t afford to keep techs in cities where the average house costs over 1 million.

I had a nightmare of a service department when I owned my Dodge.

I admit that I blew a gasket in the middle of a crowded waiting room when I loudly proclaimed "how is it that you clueless clowns survived the 2008 culling, and the dealership that actually knew how to work on my truck didn't?"

The day I bought a Toyota was the day I stopped being a Karen.

The labor/diagnostic wasn't the point of the post, and I don't think it's unfair.

I mean, if you’re talking about that they are taking three days to see you, my dealership is booked two weeks out.

I found humor in Chrysler having a high volume of repairs, and the horrific spelling on the sign. That was all

Probably has one diagnostics specialist like Scanner Danner on contract that charges flat rate per-vehicle.

How longer did you loiter in the Chrysler dealership? Are you certain you aren't infected?

225 just to diagnose is crazy in most cases. If it's a super weird chasing wires for an electrical issue then yes it makes sense. But for the typical oil leak, running rough, dash warning lights, etc 200 is to expensive. It doesn't take that long to find the problem. I run a shop that specializes in Japanese cars. My main clients are Toyota, lexus, Acura, and Honda. Our normal diagnostic fee $95. If it's a cut and dry quick find it's only $50. We aren't getting rich but we are making enough money. And what's really crazy is we aren't nearly as busy at the dealerships how charge 150 plus and hour.

Haha, long story. I bought a Land Cruiser from their dealership and the second row seat heating elements needed to be replaced. They were covering the cost, so the work was done there.

That's because your main clients are Toyota, lexus, Acura, and Honda :p Domestics tend to have more complicated "architectures". There was a two-part Pine Hollow video where it took 7 hours to chase down a battery drain in a Lincoln, because one bad module kept the other modules awake through the data bus, and there were 30+ modules on four data buses...
