    TW,

I'm a new 2015 DCSB owner, and this weekend I had my first chance to pop the hood in front of my Toyota-hater friends.

From their weak list of complaints, the one has my attention is the criticism of the mechanical fan clutch. They claim not only is it outdated technology, but notoriously prone to failure. The recommendation to me was to buy a spare and keep it ready, and/or try and upgrade to an electric fan.

I'm hoping for some feedback from Tacoma owners with experience in this area. Is this something I should worry about?

And lastly, the insult to injury was the fact that the connecting shaft between the clutch and water pump pulley on my truck was painted in bright pink! I'm not sure why Toyota decided that was an appropriate color. Any specifics on the paint color?

    Thanks in advance

LS1-T56 swap, Z06 ported heads, cam, Titanium valves, Kevlar clutch. Now building a forged stroker (383) and all the ponies! Old setup was rod-knockin on heaven's door...
Keep it stock, much more reliable IMO.
I have electric fans on my truck but its just due to the fact that my motor (LS1) doesnt use mech. fan.

I have had elec fan failures in the past and wasnt a good day.

    If it aint broke......
