This might end up in the Product Reviews area, but feels more at home here... anyway, moving on:

I'm looking to buy yet another mechanical keyboard.
I have a Logitech G710 (cherry mx blues) that I bought back in Feb 2015 (works fantastic, although it's a bit big).
Before I buy a second one (one for work, one for home), I thought I'd also see what else is out there for competition.

My big requirement is having programmable keys WITH on-the-fly recording; it saves me a lot of typing while coding. While having dedicated macro keys is very nice, I've thought about it and I could do something with profiles and simply overwrite the F keys, as long as there's quick profile switching that I can activate from the keyboard.

Anyone have any preferences or input? Here's a few I've looked at:
    • Logitech G710: this is what I have. Dedicated keys are easy to program. Just enough number of dedicated keys. Keyboard is wide. Kinda wish I didn't have to install software, but that also adds to the ease of use. Keys are non-standard keycaps; I'm not sure how much I care
    • Logitech G910: god awful feels. Romer keys are bizarre
    • Corsair STRAFE: very nice looks, but I don't see where you can get direct profile switching from the keyboard. You can have it autosense from the software, but I don't trust that all the time. Old versions of the software was COMPLEX, I'm not sure if this has improved.
    • Corsair K70, K70 LUX: see comments on STRAFE.
    • Corsair K95: This reminds me of my old Logitech G15, with the same basic issue: Why do I need EIGHTEEN macro keys?? Otherwise, a solid choice. Same concerns on software.
    • Das Keyboard 4 Pro: hot damn. However, no macros :(
    • Das Keyboard Division Zero X40: Very interested. Very concerned about Alpha Zulu key feels.
    • Ducky One/Shine: of course these are top of the line, but programming the macro keys seems a bit complex
    • Razer (any model): everyone says they break easy. Too bad, because their in-house made keys feel amazing
    • Filco Majestouch-2: no macros
    • WASD: no macros

I'll add more here as I come across them... maybe no one else cares, but hopefully this provides some interest for those of you who are looking for a really good keyboard. If there's enough interest, I'll elaborate on a certain model.
