Does anyone know what will work on my TRD PRO. I would like to put a mechanical possi in the rear diff. Maybe a Gear type.

You would have to ditch your locker ... which is one of the features you paid a premium for. The tacoma has a brake assisted traction control system in the rear that works pretty well at mimicing a mechanical limited slip.

I doubt you would be able to get that to work in conjunction with Crawl Control, A-TRAC, Rear Locker, and Simulated Limited Slip

If you get rid of the ABS you can throw a mini spool in it!

    No.

“Auto LSD is an electronic, brake-actuated limited-slip differential that automatically activates when VSC is disengaged at low speeds.”

    TRD Semi-Pro?

Why would you want to reduce your capability?

You can do it, but probably not easily. It sounds like you are describing a Detroit TrueTrac (Eaton). But I think currently they only make them for the 8" and not the 8.75" rear axle/diff. So, you would need rear axle/diff from SR/SR5/Sport with auto trans (since they have an 8" axle/diff), add the Detroit TrueTrac LSD to the 8" axle/diff, and then swap out your 8.75" rear axle/diff for the 8" rear axle/diff with TrueTrac. You will loss your E-Lock diff function but Crawl Control, A-TRAC, VSC would still work.

Thanks everyone! Just trying to run some ideas by everyone. My truck I guess is sorta rare as it has a manual trans. so I have no crawl control. I wasn’t sure how the mechanical possi would work with the locker. I appreciate everyone’s input!

It's probably fair to say that a pro with a manual is rare. I'd be interested to just how many of each configuration were made in a given year.

You still have ATRAC, which is the electronic brake booster and individual wheel brake traction control.

Crawl control is just software that uses the ATRAC system, kind of like cruise control uses the throttle and brakes.

ATRAC is good stuff! You enable it and give it moderate throttle and the truck does the rest.

In my early years I was a master automobile tech. Then I started doing machine repair work in factories. Even though I own the truck and all of it’s electronics I’m still an old school gears and levers guy at heart. My first Toyota was a 1978 FJ-40 that I restored. I made the mistake of selling it, much to my regret soon after! I have not worked on my new truck and am not sure what will or won’t work now. I appreciate all your input. Thank you all.

What do you want to accomplish in terms of performance? Do you ever use the rear locker?

The purpose of my post was only to learn what might be do-able with my truck and the electronics from people that may have some experience with this system. I have in my work experience worked with machine controllers that because of external conditions and use degrade.
I also don’t like the permitters or factory programming and the limitations of the same.
I’m looking to make changes in the future and simply wonder what is available. Thanks.
