Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I had done it in my 98. My interval change was 8-12k.

1st gens are out of the equation, they've been taken over by the frame rust gremlins.

If it were me and I wasn't buying a new one....

I'd buy the newest possible truck I could afford. And, the fact that the PRE-09's have the REAL LSD (mechanical) as an option and none of all that traction control garbly goop - standard.

Rule of thumb (in my oppinion), is never buy a 1st year car/truck after a redesign. That would leave 2005 out. Overall, that's where most of the problems are and they spend the next year or more ironing out all the quarks.

    Agreed!

I have one of the last 2000 (late 90's body) chevy trucks off the line. Crew cab 3/4 ton fleet truck, last of the 350 short blocks. Literally out of date the day I bought it (cheap). The thing takes a beating and just will just will NOT die. Not exciting to drive, but one of the best investments I ever made.

I agree with this mostly but I would still rather have it and turn t off than not have it at all. Although I've never really experienced problems with SUV's and no traction/stability control it's kinda like piece of mind. Ya know?

My whole reason for this thread:
As I knew was going to happen, I did lose my case and Mazda shafted me once again. I don't even know how. I had specific terms on settlement and it was either reimbursement OR fix the whole damn thing AND give me an extended warranty...the BBB came back with fix the whole damn thing minus the transmission (top 2 biggest concerns) and NO extended warranty that Mazda was very easy to convince on giving me that.

Again, I don't even know how that legal process got fucked up but thanking Mazda once again, now I have to sell the pos.

Haha! Naw, I'm gonna give them one shot at fixing it. It's up for sale although I feel really bad dumping a potentially dangerous car on another poor individual and that could turn out bad for me in the long run...like how it turned out for bcgredneck and his Chevy...

i too had a problem with mazda, i had on 03 protege speed, retail 20k, which went through 3 engines, countless front n reatr sway bar repalcements, 8 readios, 6 subwoofers, 2 cooling system, 1 set new struts, and minor things all over, came to about $32000 in warrantied repairs.. great fun car to drive, but what a pain in the ass.

Really? I've never heard of MSP's being a bitch for repairs. All I've heard is the MZ3's being crap. And the n/a Protege guys that turbo their cars and blow out the engines. Some MSP guys upped their boost and blew through the blocks also.
