So I am meeting the gfs parents today. We've been dating for 5 months now, but seeing each other for over a year. Would it be too over the top to give flowers to her mom since I am going to their house?

Throw a curve...Be different. You need to set yourself apart from the other she may have dated in the past. Give her Dad flowers, and her Mom a beer. Its a great ice breaker. :)

I feel like I should bring something... Maybe a bottle of wine like usual. Not trying to be a kiss ass, just a nice gesture.

bottle of wine would be a nice gesture, that is unless they are recovering alcoholics. Nothing wrong with some flowers or a nice small potted plant...
