    Alright, post wash ratings:

Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash: 10/10 best car wash I have ever used. The stuff lathers excellently and about 4 cap fulls did the entire truck. Most other washes I have used required me to add more product to the water as I washed; didn't have to here. Honestly the truck looked like I had just waxed it after washing even though I had only cleaned it and waxed about a month and a half ago. I was impressed at how well it removed bug residue from the bumper and windshield. Also it smells great. Highly recommended. I'll be using this from now on.

TW Ice Liquid Wax: 10/10 after 2 uses. I honestly cannot find anything to complain about with this product. It goes on easily, dries almost clear, and buffs off with very minimal difficulty. Doesn't leave behind any swirl marks or darker areas. Also it's completely safe to use on all plastics including the black grille, bumper trim, etc. The shine is remarkable, and leaves the truck looking better than it did brand new. Water still beaded almost as well as a fresh coat a month and a half after application on a daily driver that is not garage kept. I'd say it took less than 1/4 of the bottle to do the entire truck. I haven't used Meguiar's ULW, and do intend to once I run out of the Ice Liquid Wax, but for now I can't recommend this product enough.

TW Ice Spray Wax: 5/10 I'm really not sure where I went wrong here but it kind of turned into a mini disaster. The stuff dried almost instantly and was an absolute pain in the ass to get off. I sprayed the entire roof and pillars and before I could take a rag to it, it had hardened to a paste-like consistency and wouldn't buff off like normal dried wax does. After 2 attempts to remove it with 2 separate microfiber cloths I ended up having to wax the area with the Liquid Wax just to get the spray wax residue off. Also the overspray peppered my windshield and windows and I had the same difficulty getting the dried spray wax off the windshield as I did the body. This was early morning around 9am and in the shade so I don't think heat or sunlight was a problem. Maybe just a fluke but I don't see myself using this again just for fear the same issue might happen again.

I had the same thoughts as you after using the gold class wash. It was almost like I waxed it. Glad to hear a positive review on the wax, too. As far as the spray wax goes- that is crazy. Every time I've used it, it's been just like using windex on glass. No problems whatsoever. The only thing I can think of is that it somehow reacted with the wax you laid down prior. How long after the wax application did you use the spray? I'm curious to know if you waited a day after application of the wax, if the spray product would work any differently?

Sorry to hear. Disappointments are never fun. Another tip- detail spray supposedly works great to help with removal of stubborn waxes.

Maybe try it again on a small spot on your tailgate after your next wash and see if it reacts any differently. I usually just spray small areas and wipe off immediately- exactly like window washing.

Spray the wax on to your microfiber, instead of the paint, then apply, working one section at a time. That should solve your problem

It's always best to spray any sort of "spray on" product onto your microfiber instead of the surface your working on. It prevents over spray and wasting of the product. Hope that helps, maybe you just got a bad batch.

Thanks for the tips guys! Sounds like what I did wrong was try to do too big of an area at once and it may have been too warm outside and the product just dried too quickly.

I actually didn't use the liquid wax before applying the spray wax because I intended to skip buff waxing altogether and only use the spray wax. It was only after I had difficulty removing the spray wax that I decided to apply a coat of liquid wax.

I'll definitely give the spray wax another shot on the next washing, it just surprised me at how difficult it was to remove after it dried. I expected it to kind of "crust" over when it dried and buff off into a powder like the puddy style waxes do, but that just wasn't the case at all.

yep, if it dried at all, you waited too long. it should be done just like washing a window. I don't have that problem here with 70% humidity in the summer time! Hope you have better luck next time. Do report back!

Post rain results of the Ice Liquid Wax that was applied on Saturday. This was after a hour-long heavy downpour. The Tacoma was the only vehicle in the parking lot that was even beading water. Within a five minute drive down the road the entire truck aside from the bed was 90% dry. Color me very impressed.

Let us know how it is a month or two months from now. I would hope it beads after a few days.

303 is not the best product for that because it will never stay on the headlights. Be better off with Sonax Net Shield or Adams Quick Sealant. Looking at up to 6 months of durability with either.

Thanks for the info. You answered a question I hadn't asked yet- thanks for the recommend on the Sonax/Adams. I've been using the 303 for a couple months on the advice in another thread. But every time I apply it I just keep thinking "well this isn't gonna do sh!t". It just wipes right off. It doesn't appear to penetrate at all. I got to thinking the ULW would work better than the 303 for that purpose. I'll give the products you recommended a try.

Have you tried either of those products on the entire vehicle?

The Adam's quick sealant. It works well. Should really put it down on clean paint (no wax) and then layer if desired.

After reading this thread the other day, I decided to give the ulw a try. I normally use klasse but am all out at the moment. I wish I would have taken a before pic. I hadn't washed my truck in over a year and it was a mess. Clay barred everything first and followed up with the ulw. Didn't think the truck would shine like this again. I use this truck for work and take it to the woods often during hunting season. The results are very impressive. Just hope it last.

I have been using Mothers paste wax and only so-so satisfied. Do you know if the Meguiars can be applied over the top of a traditional paste wax?

You might not get even coverage and there's a good chance of less than optimal adhesion if there's wax on the surface already. If it's been awhile since you've applied the other wax and it's seen a few washes, I'm sure you'll see a benefit. Give it a shot if you'd like to. You might see good results. It's not gonna hurt to try (if you don't want to clay it first). Worst case scenario, you're simply wasting a little product. No biggie.

Basically, if you waxed it yesterday with mothers, you're just wasting the ultimate by putting it on top. But if it's been awhile, I think you'll see an improvement.

If I were you, I'd just give it a good wash with megs gold class and then apply the ultimate. Dawn dish soap works better for removing wax, but Washing with dawn is a controversial topic. It can dry out rubber/plastic/paint. But in my opinion, doing it once or twice isn't gonna hurt anything. That's a call people need to make themselves.

To do it right you'd clay bar it first. Hope this helps.

Have you been able to compare the ice to the ultimate yet?
