watch the FIRST vid very closely in HD and max screen size and I can ALMOST make out the gear selections (try and use the green gear indicator on the cluster).

Im not 100% and I looked for his reply to others who have asked on xru, but I cant find it :(

Looks like he started with the shifter in 2nd then shifted it to 3rd and 4th. Not entirely sure why though because it didn't shift until a little after he moved the shifter. He could probably just put it in 4th and get the same results.

Here Brock look at this. He starts out in 2nd, shifts to 3rd, takes it out of 4wd, and then shifts to 4th to finish the run. The gear selector only moves twice and only moves up during the video

Beat you to it:p I like that dash lighting:D I wish I could swap mine all out, but I don't trust my soldering skills at the moment and I am too busy spending money on functional mods.

Anybody ever tell you you have a badass looking Taco though!:D

i hate u and ur awesome lights!

as for the shifting, hes gotta chime in.

the first vid I posted, I count the initial gear hes in, then I can see the rpm dip 3 times and hear 3 shifts.....if he started in 2nd, he would finish in 5th/D according to my ears and the tach.

thats another test............how far does 1st and 2nd wind?
    compare that to his speedo?

    WERTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHERE U BE?

The RPM doesnt waver too much like it does from 4th to fifth, so I think he starts in 1st in that vid.......... u dont see the green light move UP because the shift from L to 2 is lateral and not UP, but to the side.

when I hear that 1st gear change, I dont see the light move up....but I see his tach dropping, theres shift shock (camera ever wobbles)......he has to have shifted.....the green light NOT moving up seems indicitive of a LOW to 2 gear shift

    Im using this vid

not rlly.........it woulda been searching for gears due to his tires spinning i think....I have that issue.

The trucks rpm climb so high due to spin, that it forces the truck to upshift to the next gear or 2, then the tires hook, and the truck STUMBLES badly and then it has to RE FIND the optimum gear to match the load vs RPM and its a nightmare.....

speaking from my own 2wd experience atleast....Im no pro, but I do know the trans will hunt when I spin , then bog when it hooks.....unless I hold a gear (evidenced by the long burnout I did)...... I held each gear, till 3rd I think it was and it kept the truck in the perfect rpm/load/gear match.

it was a while ago, but I swear I started in L, had to modulate the gas some, shifted to 2nd, bounced off the limiter briefly but held it because the actual TRUCK wasnt moving much (still massive spin), then when the truck actually got some speed, I went to 3rd......held 3rd till I was satisfied, then let off the gas....... seeing all the ford guys jumping around and cheering scared me at first, so I prolly coulda done better..............plus the road was filled with smoke curb to curb...the road is not used heavily, its just a short access road to the dealerships, but I didnt wanna cause too much of a problem.

Well it is an auto. It's not literally starting in 2nd gear. The shift selector is just in 2nd. He ends with it in 4th though. From the looks of it all I think he is just shifting for fun, unless he has to force it over 5500 to get the computer to not shift at 5500rpm or something. Otherwise I don't see why he doesn't just leave it in 4th or 5th gear and not touch the shifter during the race.

Yeah that makes sense but that is in 2wd though. He launches in 4wd to cut back on wheelspin and it you listen to the vid there isn't much wheelspin either, not enough for it to even bother gear searching at least.

Did I mention I hate you:p I wish had some boost. haha Too many other things to spend money on for me though like suspension and tires and such...

But I posted up a pic for reference which makes it better! I could do yours, but you'd have to get it in my hands pretty quick here or else ship it to me when I move.

No one has ever told me that before! Thank you! :)
I agree. It might make the transmission hold on a bit longer if you run it out while the selector is in a certain position. Werty had his RPM set to 6200 which is crazy town.
Yeah pretty much. You can hang out in here I don't mind.

No. I am going down to Texas to start my training for my new job. I am ultimately moving to Minnesota though as my permanent location. I don't see myself staying there for more than a couple years though as I progress through the company. I will either work my way back into Montana or even possibly Spokane or if I decide to really get after the corporate structure I will probably be in Texas.

Oh mah gawd you have no idea. I can't wait... Driving into town today on the interstate with the new pulley there was a marked increase in power just about everywhere in the powerband.
