    I wonder if that has an effect on the VVTI since it works off of oil pressure?

    It helps protect the engine while boosted... But in the winter I don't have to worry as much about things getting too hot. I don't really "need" to run that oil, bu do as a cheap insurance policy.

    What are you proposing that it affects?

    I will go back to 5w-30 here in a week or so and will report if I find anything different. I can only imagine that the lighter oil + the Red top will certainly help the starting situation at 30 below.
