Outside. Where the plastic "meets" the cab. I even did this with my meso 3rd. But I left the bottom open.

What do you mean you left the bottom "open"?

I only sealed 3 of the 4 sides. Top, left and right. If I was you I'd seal the bottom as well.

@MESO hey mate so I got the 3rd brake light with the 3 bd light provisions. Are you suposed to chase your own threads or what do you use to secure the lights in place from nvh.20191210_175253.jpg

    i asked him before, i have bd4's.

yes, use a slow rotating power tool and the bolt itself will tap. I'm sure you know but be careful to not overdo it.

@MESO ... Same question, but for gen2. I'd go with either KC or BD setup w/NMO. If you are still doing it with the light combo, I'd be in for that too.

It's SOP for exterior home light fixtures to not seal the bottom of the plate to the wall so if moisture gets behind the plate it has a place to drain out. Are you saying by experience you'd recommend fully sealing the bottom as well? I can see where air turbulence while might be a problem.

Well I put a bead around the face where it mounts to the truck, then sealed the exterior 3 of 4 sides. No leaks so far.

It's easy. Drill out the old one, screw in the new one.

The install wasn't too bad. Definitely make sure all your wires on the new Meso 3rd brake lights are connected properly and test them to make sure all the lights light up before you start removing the OEM 3rd brake light. You can test the lights using a battery. I'd used a water heater battery that was laying around in my garage. Don't forget to place a good size of amount of silicone around the new Meso 3rd brake light right before you tighten down the 2 screws that holds 3rd brake light to the truck.

    Good luck with your install.
