Meso Flip Fobs

Pretty sure this is just a restock of current gen flip fobs, redesign probably got delayed

 

From the post below, wear points were intended to be addressed before the next batch was made. So technically maybe not a redesign per say.

Just put a order in when I saw this on IG, we'll see if its true in a few days.

 

I'll wait and see how it goes. I had a V1 version and had high hopes that it didn't live up to. Don't want to throw good money after bad. But I have loved all the other Meso items that I have bought.

 

I already spent $70 once to be a beta tester. I too will wait until the new design has been out in the wild for a while.

 

Just got a black one from the new batch. Maybe I'll be able to tell if anything was changed when my cement one arrives.

What are your honest thoughts about it? I hated the original key for a while but have gotten used to it. Not sure if I want to switch over or not. I don’t care so much it’s $70 if it’s good quality, but I do wish I could handle one in person before ripping my key apart.

 

FWIW i did not use a blade to remove the immobilizer chip, which is shown in the meso youtube instructions. I used a heat gun to soften the glue then used a very small screwdriver to pry the chip out. I wanted to preserve the original key just in case I wanted to go back.

I just got a flip fob a couple days ago. Got the key cut yesterday.

So far, way better than the giant OEM key/fob.

I modded the factory key to fit the fob. That didn’t work though. The factory key is about 0.100” shorter than the meso key. I made the tang that engages the flip mechanism the same length as the meso key blank since that’s what gets all the torque.

It worked fine and started right up. It just wouldn’t push in to turn off. I had to bust out the little hex wrench and remove the key from the fob.

Got the meso blank cut and it works like a champ.

Anyone run into an issue with their dealership flat out refusing to cut a flip fob key?

 

Dont go to a dealership. Go to a locksmith. Got mine cut $5

As long as its not crocs lol. I remember when people were made fun of for wearing crocs and when people weren't so sensitive. Smh.

To be honest I would pay that for the manual transmission version of the cup surround.

 

It was an adventure and a half finding a locksmith in my town, but I'm good to go.

Anyone ever figure out a use for the spare blade after dismantling their donor fob? I'm trying to think of a way to carry at as a spare key, but I use one of those minimalist wallets. Do they make multi-tools or pocket knives that will hold a key blade?
