That looks great. I used regular spray paint and just did some prep work. It's held up fine but does have a few minor scratches from heavy water bottles. I think I'll try this next time.

I actually watched a MESO auto trans chrome delete install this morning to get tips on removing this piece to see if the removal was irreversible or if it’d go back together. It can totally go back together and I will absolutely be painting it. This is too simple. Stoked to hear plastidip is holding up, I was thinking it may chip if you put a metal yeti cup in it or something. I’ll probably do some prep to hope it adheres well. Actually if it does chip and start to look bad, it’d be easier if I could peel it off and start again or try something different. I think I’ll just wipe it with alcohol or something to ensure the surface is clean before I dip it. Hopefully plastidip’s camo green is similar to meso’s army green vent rings!!

Plastidip should require no prep besides maybe cleaning with alcohol. Lots of people use it for emblems and that's in the sun. Plastidip makes a matte clear coat which is what I used. Put about 3 coats of clear, so I got a good layer of protection. I put my yeti coffee mug on the cup holder and it hasn't chipped yet

I was thinking about doing the same with the vent rings, but just watched a vent ring replacement video and apparently the only way to get them out to dip them involves cutting some little nubs making it so they’ll never go back in. Hopefully the plasti-dip green I found will be close enough to the same color as the MESO green vent rings.

You can actually clip them in a way they can be pressed back in and stay pretty well or even heat a flat heat screwdriver up and press it on the nub. A soldering iron would possibly work but it's too hot so you'd have to be really careful.
