Same here, a day early, woohoo! Excited to get it cut and ready to go!

My wallet is ready to the release of the buttons and maybe a few other Meso mods I've been procrastinating about buying.

There are other Toyota fobs that have the transponder easily able to be removed from the fob. Why they decided to encapsulate the one in our key fobs in carbonite escapes me. Maybe it has to do with keeping customers from changing out their keys on their own or something? Forces you to buy a new key all together instead of just moving guts around.

Glad you got it out though! It's definitely the most PITA part of this process.

Who did the key cut for you and did you get it cut before you did the install process?

I think my only concern is putting everything together, removing the pin to get it cut, and then they can't cut it.

At that point, I guess I would be working on grinding down the original key to make it fit! Hoping to not have to get to this point myself.

You can remove the small set screw and just have them cut the raw key. I had a couple other customers tell me they did it this way. Also, if you have to take it back apart I posted a HOW TO video on rewinding the spring. It’s in the product page and also on the install Page www.mesocustoms.com/install

I took it to The Home Depot and the girl cut it for free for me because she said there’s no way to charge me since it’s not their key they sell. I took it in fully assembled.

I know it’s ridiculous what Toyota has been doing lately. My old 2nd gen Tacoma took me 15 minutes to do an oil change and on my 3rd gen it’s closer to 45 minutes lol

I took it to The Home Depot and they cut it in like 90 seconds without any problems and it works perfect. This is literally how I took both keys in and the girl was like that’s so cool and said her brother also drives a meso and I said yup they’re good cars lol. She looked at the back of the meso key and saw that it said meso and assumed that was a car manufacturer o_O:rofl:

Finally got my flip fobs!! Great build quality, packaging, and customer service as always.

    Screen Shot 2020-10-26 at 2.56.19 PM.jpg

I did the cheapo eBay flipfob conversion earlier this year. Turns out, the same key can be used for the MESO flipfob so no need to get another key cut!

    Screen Shot 2020-10-26 at 2.58.06 PM.jpg

I did have to keep a file handy, as the instruction video advised. No biggie. Just test fit, file, repeat, until the buttons all felt good when clicking.

I would highly recommend having a legit locksmith cut your key for you. I shopped around locally, and most hardware stores wouldn't even touch car keys due to liability. A local locksmith actually had the key cut using the key code from the door, as getting keys copied are not always 100% due to daily wear and tear of your regular key that they would be copying from. Buy once, cry once.

The space on the MESO Key Fob for the transponder is pretty tight already, you just need something to keep it from rattling around. I used double sided tape, and that did the trick.

On a different note: I had to keep test fitting the remote to file down the unlock button. Unfortunately, the plastic clips that hold the MESO fob together broke off. The remote seems to be firmly held together by the screws once I finalized the assembly, but I hope it provides enough retention so the flip mechanism doesn't jump off the crosshair track as time goes by.

My clips broke off as well due to the repeated assembly/disassembly to file the buttons down for fitment. Seems to be holding up with the screws though.

Locksmith wants $75 to do the cut. I seriously think going to Home Depot and rolling the dice with service and quality has to be better than that.

Got a bit of time tonight to disassemble my spare fob, went the cautious route and made it so I could always reuse it if need be. A little dab of silicone and I could put the transponder back in place. Now to look up lock smiths and get the key cut, moving internals over soon.

Got my key cut at Home Depot for $3 something. Used the never used key for the copy.

Got everything swapped over in the parking lot of my son’s soccer practice with a Leatherman. No glue needed on the transponder, there was enough residue left to make it a snug fit.
