Thanks. I'll try again, perhaps I didn't have it close enough to the ignition switch. I got a bit aggressive with the knife and sliced into the transponder to the point that there is some copper showing... severe lack of touch on my end!

Yeah, the transponder needs to be super close to the ignition for the engine to fire. I tried it once just after the key was cut and it didn't get spark. A few minutes later I tried again with the original key basically touching the ignition and it worked.

Just use some tape and tape it to the outside of the fob, just for a test. That should tell you it's working.

Received mine yesterday already had my guts and transponder ready to transfer. Went to get my blank cut today 4 dollars at a local lock smith no trouble at all. So the only thing I had to tinker with was the buttons kept sticking so I filed the buttons down and finally got all of them to click comfortably very satisfied with the flip fob! Was looking forward to it since Meso first talked about it being in the works. Ordered red and white buttons looking forward to those coming in thanks again @MESO great product as always :thumbsup:E10A6B21-904A-42FE-8AA0-D6C56BF9E881.jpg

Most of us got it cut after it was fully assembled. Think it can be done either way though.

Depends on the operator. I was asked to de assemble mine prior to cutting. But others have had success getting theirs cut with the fob fully assembled.

Finally got mine in today, got the electronics in and fitted the buttons. I have yet to pull the pin to test so I would like to ask if anyone has removed the blank key from the assembly if you would need to reset the spring mechanism. I was going to do the OEM key way but I might as well use the blank.

If you just remove the key blank from the assembly using the set screw there shouldn't be any need to reassemble the spring assembly as far as I know. Only time you should need to rewind the spring is if you need to crack the entire fob back open after full assembly.

    Unless I'm missing something...

Fernando made a great post specifically about Home Depot but which probably applies to Lowe’s and Walmart as well.

As I posted earlier, I got my ff shank cut at HD after removing it. Bringing in just the shank confused the staff a little because they couldn’t recognize it as #35. However, there was some upside to taking in just the shank which I realized yesterday when I returned to have the blank I had purchased on Monday cut to match. I figure a slim metal key will be nice for running or surfing or locking up somewhere outside the truck and I had already paid for the blank so I might as well get it cut.

The associate helping me with that explained that they are not allowed to cut keys with electronics. That is likely local store policy rather than some regional or nationwide directive but she stood rather firm on it and indicated that someone had complained about a bad cut in the past, an associate was fired over the incident, and her manager was very clear on the subject.

Of course I didn’t verify any of this by seeking out her manager nor is it likely to impact a different store but that extra possible complication leads me to recommend removing the shank prior to assembly while the pin is intact and bring just the shank for the cut. It may add a little confusion (as it did for the staff who helped me on Monday) but it also avoids a potential policy roadblock (as I learned yesterday). You can use a set of pliers to test it in the tailgate before final assembly.

If going to a locksmith or other business which clearly won’t have any restrictions outlined above, it doesn’t matter what you do, you should be fine.

I brought the full kit to a locksmith. He said they could do it whole but when I offered to pull the blade out of the flip fob he was super happy. $5 and 5 minutes later, I was out the door.

Painted the icons white on my fob. I'll post a picture once I get the panic button changed out to red. It was a lengthy process with the main stars being white plastic model paint and a toothpick... and lots of rubbing alcohol. For a hand painted attempt, it turned out as best as it could I think. I'll post up soon.

@MESO, probably already mentioned but can I reset/reuse the pin before disassembling the fob to change out buttons?

Unfortunately you cannot reinsert the pin and have the spring pre wound. Not sure why but it has ti be disassembled then use my video to reset the spring and pin.

Set up my Fob on Tuesday when it got here, transponder went super easy. Took maybe 5 min to cut it out and didn’t have to shave off any glue to get it to fit. I also grounded down my key but it’s a little short and gets stuck sometimes when trying to remove it from the ignition. So then I went to ace to get it cut and they messed up the blade and it didn’t work at all.

So I just ordered 2 more blades and some red buttons because my unlock button doesn’t click, shaved it down multiple times and instill can’t get a click so hopefully I can get the red buttons to click.

Very happy with the quality of the fob and flip mechanism.

White also, can’t get unlock or or panic to click. I think the buttons might be a little large for the opening and they are binding. Also going to try another button set.

Check the sides of the buttons. Both sets I received had a little extra material. After a quick touch up all was well. Didn't really have to work on the nubs.

First day with it and I’m very happy. I think I’m gonna give the 2nd one I ordered to a friend of mine just because I know he’ll love it too.

@MESO any chance of a black button pack? For those of us who filed too far or dropped em in the toilet?

I did the former, but I’m sure someone will do the later
