I got a sheet of red Laminex to try some cutouts as a test. Will post pics once it's dark, but that's not until about 10pm here now...

I don't think this idea would work for my needs though. I want something temporary, which these are, but this would take more effort to remove (heat) than a filter designed for it. You can peel them off for a few hours, but if I'm up in the boonies somewhere for a week they will need a bit more effort to get them off.

Unclip the stock connector(it’s on a little clip fixed to the A pillar) then once you connect the new T, you will have slack to push the lower section down into the dash hole. The upper wiring stays the same length, the bottom gets pushed down.

Edit - I like it. Plenty bright and doesn't seem to kill my night vision as I walk up to my truck. Need to get it out somewhere really dark in the next few days and see how it does.

I’ve never messed with that film, but be careful of the heat from those pods. Them suckers get HOT!

Frustrated with this product! Had a wire that was broken out of the box. Didn’t catch it until install was near complete. Received replacement wire, should have asked for a new plastic pod holder because I just knew that thing would break when I went to replace the wire. After being extremely careful with it. It broke. I’m venting here a bit and thinking this mod isn’t worthy of the long haul with the truck. This isn’t the first product that failed out of the box. Had a set of Meso map lights I upgraded to the ultimates maps and they too easily broke. I’m just glad that the factory plastic holds up better as I’ll be taking the door apart for a third time fixing this.

Hey, I get it.... sh!t happens. I break stuff all the time... most of it is OEM! God knows how many things I've purchased that were incomplete, broken or damaged before I opened the box. @MESO has been one of the few that goes above and beyond to make things right. If he doesn't address the issue, then it's a problem. FWIW, none of those things are related. The first is a 3D printed item that broke. The second is an injection molded item that broke and the third is a wiring crimp that broke. There is a massive amount of QC that has to go into building "kits" I suspect an occasional failure is part of the odds.

I broke the same tab on the pod holder but it still holds securely.

Two tabs are broke, used trim removal tools. I’m curious as to how it’ll hold going down a washboard road. Those little pod leds are heavy for that type of flimsy plastic.

I’m venting because taking the doors off over and over sucks. Meso takes care of his customers but it should be known that these won’t fair well if removed again for some reason. I would not purchase used.
