Anyone have their lights continuously turn on and off? I've seen this happen occasionally even when I'm pretty sure my key is out of range (>20 feet). Doesn't matter if the door is locked or unlocked.

You won’t need the DSIM kit if you don’t exceed the amp draw of the dome circuit. I think that’s 7.5 amps (sorry, don’t know off the top of my head). You should also have 20% cushion for safety, so I wouldn’t go over 6 amps. If you do use the DSIM module, you’ll want to just have it activate an additional relay that can handle the rock light load. Also be aware that the lights controlled by the DSIM module will not have the fade on and off effect of puddle pods. So it’s going to come down to how many amps your rock lights draw. I am in the planning phase on mine still, but plan on using the DSIM module and am just adding lights underneath to come on and off with the puddle pods. I love the Meso puddle lights, but want more light that illuminates the ground outside the door when the door is open. I also plan on using a separate dimmer controller to have the lights dim on and off. Hope this helps

Awesome info. Trying to figure out where i'm gonna fit another small switch. might have to go overhead. Is the small meso switch a rocker style switch? if i use the Meso switch and the dsim will the single switch still be able to control both the puddle lights and the rock lights? which style dimmer are you gonna go with. also, about what color temp are these puddle lights to try and match them up to a set of rock lights?

This is basically what I want to achieve. Meso switch controlling puddle and rock lights with dsim. so by moving the switch up in front of the dsim i can still have rock lights comming off the dsim on a relay but controlled with the meso switch?

The small Meso switch is a rocker style, and allows for the lights to be overridden on, turned totally off, or function with the dome light. And you can use the Meso switch to control the puddle lights and the rock lights with the DSIM module. You could also wire in 2 Meso switches if you really wanted. One could control the rock lights (call it switch 2), and when switch 2 is placed in auto, the rock lights would then mirror the switch that controls the puddle lights (call it switch 1). This would allow for the rock lights to be turned on without the puddle lights pretty easily. It would open up a lot of options.

Switch 1 AUTO, Switch 2 AUTO: Puddle lights and rock lights both work with the dome light.
Switch 1 AUTO, Switch 2 ON: Puddle lights work with the dome light, rock lights are on.
Switch 1 AUTO, Switch 2 OFF: Puddle lights work with the dome light, rock lights are off.
Switch 1 ON, Switch 2 AUTO: Puddle lights are on, rock lights are on.
Switch 1 ON, Switch 2 ON: Puddle lights are on, rock lights are on.
Switch 1 ON, Switch 2 OFF: Puddle lights are on, rock lights are off.
Switch 1 OFF, Switch 2 AUTO: Puddle lights are off, rock lights are off.
Switch 1 OFF, Switch 2 ON: Puddle lights are off, rock lights are on.
Switch 1 OFF, Switch 2 OFF: Puddle lights are off, rock lights are off.

You could also swap the above behaviors by putting switch 2 before switch 1. Not sure how you would designate between the two switches in the cab though? Label wise. Sorry, kind of thinking out loud here as I type...
If you didn't mind getting away from the plug and play, anytimebackupcamera.com sells a couple of rocker style switches that might work? I'd have to see exactly how they wire. They just need to be able to switch grounds as opposed to 12v+. https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com/products/a-b-light-switch-toyota

As to what I am personally planning: I am going with a push on/off switch that will turn both puddle and rock lights on (my "rock" lights aren't really rock lights, underglow would probably be more specific for what I'm doing) whenever I want them on, regardless of the key position, and when that switch is off, they will work with the dome. I don't anticipate ever needing to turn them off totally, and I am very particular about things matching. Don't get me wrong, the Meso switch is absolutely top quality and looks great, but it doesn't match what I am trying to do. So I had ch4X4 custom make a switch which I then took the face off of to put it on an AirOnBoard switch so the lighting matches (like I said, I'm very particular, probably to a fault).

As to how I am going to dim the lights on and off: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X3HNR93/ref=twister_B07X3GD8PN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I will take the 12v+ output of the DSIM (yellow wire) and attach it to the Hi Trigger + (blue) wire. Then the lights themselves tie to the Oznium dimmer (both + and -). You can then adjust the timing (with the 8amp controller, I don't think you van with the 2amp one). Keep in mind, I am kind of an oddity when it comes to this stuff. I tend to spend a lot of my free time making things do things they weren't designed to do, so take all of this with that disclaimer in mind.... but here is a rough idea of what I'm planning:
    wiring-4b.jpg

Its really rough, and the color scheme wont make sense out of context, so I would ignore that part. Also, I still need to verify the puddle pods +/- (VIF=verify in field). Basically, its a mess that would greatly benefit from the skills of someone like Caribe Makaira (sorry, not sure how to @ someone) who is way better at streamlining and diagraming than I am.

On the puddle light install, there is a cable listed as “A” (for future products). Should I route this into the mirror where the puddle light is? Should it be through the mirror hole and into door area?

leave it in the cavity of the puddle light. SO when sequential turn signals come out, you just have to run the wire up into the main mirror body.

How often do you release these ?
I always seem to have bad timing (first world problems)

Any advantage/disadvantage to go ahead and leave it in the main mirror body if we plan on getting the sequential turn signals? Not sure if it will save a step (or three) when we go to install the sequential turn signals.

From reading your post I'm thinking you want the rock lights to be controlled and operate the same as the puddle pods. The kit I installed was all plug and play and I still have the option to control puddle pods and rock lights fully. So I can turn them all on at anytime, have them all on auto, all off,or one or the other. It was a very straightforward install and I'm very happy with the outcome. Is this similar to what your trying to achieve?

pretty much. but I want the rock lights to fade on/off as well. i'm going to try @Puppypunter 's diagram with a aironboard switch.

so if going this route no need for a dsim? You just use the negative trigger and connect that to the low Trigger on the dimmer?
