Yeah it’s much easier than advertised. So if my switch isn’t illuminated I did something wrong? I figured I needed to tap into the cargo or something like my other switches. Just so I can check it out correctly, what do the 3 positions do on the rocker switch? (On / Middle / Auto)

Only the icon illuminates. It should be rather obvious. There are photos in this thread on this topic.

On turns them on constant. Off disables puddles entirely. Auto follows the dome light.

Very helpful! I’ll poke through the thread if I need to. When you say constant do you mean that literally? Like 24/7?

Just in case I have to dig through these 300+ pages, anyone want to give me a head start on most common culprit for switch not illuminating if lights are working?

The only thing I can think of is the ground wire on the switch. If that is not properly grounded, it won't light up.

Like David said, constant on, 24/7 on, yeah.

    Pro tips on thread searching:

    1. try keyword and limit to “this thread”
    2. Identify people you trust for good info and limit by poster (I often hunt for @Puppypunter ’s posts that way). The left and right arrows on each post allow zoom by poster.
    3. When you find something helpful, re-posting images can make finding the same info later on a bit easier, now it’s one of your posts and saved for eternity. Presenting the image yourself and asking questions about it is more helpful than asking for help and having no starting point.

Thanks again! Man I've been around TW for a while and never thought about #3! Genius! I should have time to poke at it today. Still need to clean up the floor wires anyway. I'm guessing just zipties and tucking under the carpet. Nobody looks under there anyway. I'll let yall know.

Well that took all of 10 minutes. Opened my door and saw the nut from my ground screw sitting in the floor board. Probably would’ve been a good idea to put that on last night. But I might’ve tried. The ground terminal from the switch wouldn’t fit on the bolt I use (the two behind the switch panel).

All I had to do was remove the dash / steering panel, snip MESOs ground wire and crimp a bigger terminal on. Hooked it up and tucked some wiring under carpet in the passenger floor board. Done! @daveeasa I’m betting you can knock it out in a few hours. As long as you have a tool to snake the wire through the boot. It’s as easy as remove door panel & mirror, snap lights on, route wires up A Pillar and snap everything in.

Has anyone had the issue of the On switch not working? The pods come on when the door is opened/unlocked when the switch is flipped to the other side, but I can't seem to get it to come on when I flip rock the switch to On.

Double check to make sure you grounded the switch to a good location.

To briefly hijack this MESO thread...With my inability to get to the site quickly enough whenever the email notification of puddle lights being in stock comes in I've considered ordering the factory puddle lights (part# 00016-00069). Does anyone have any experience with them?

Probably just be better to get a set of rock lights and go that route. That's almost what it is from the looks of it.

Are those rock lights or puddle lights?

Rock lights are usually mounted in the wheel wells / frame area. And puddles are in the door mirrors.

OMG - just spent all of my spare time during the past 7 days reading through the 6,197 post in this thread. I watched all the various disassemble videos, viewed all the @MESO instructions and all of the various install tips posted here. Read through all the sadness of everyone’s “Installer Errors” pinched wires, broken connectors, blown fuses and unseated connections.

But most importantly I enjoyed the abundance of really happy post from satisfied buyers, after they got their awesome puddle lights installed and operating.

I feel like I could probably install these things blind folded now, now just to patiently wait for the next drop of new puddle lights :fingerscrossed:

I check the website every so often in anticipation that I will get in on the next batch of pubble lights. I did the "email" notification but I have never had any luck with those. Hope I get lucky and see the next batch when its avaliable.

Yeah -I’m doing exactly what you are doing. I would like to get the puddle pods and the puddle switch. Hopefully we can both get in on the next batch. :fistbump:

Took about a year, but I got lucky and caught the Meso DIY Stealth shift knob kit available a few weeks ago. I’m holding off on installation, so that I can replace my ECT button with the puddle light switch.
